what do you think?
Sep. 1st, 2008 02:44 pmI know i'm going to adopt at least one kid, so i recently started to think about baby names... here are the combos i like, in that order. My last name is Angeloni (Italian); i plan to adopt the kids alone, so that's going to be their last name. They will have 3 names (i know, but i love a lot of names!). If this cares or helps, i'm from Argentina.
Lenora Elsa ___ Angeloni
Lenora: the "Spanissh version" of the name Lenore, that was used by Edgar Allan Poe (i'm a big fan).
Elsa: my grandmother's name, i promised her i would use her name with my first daughter.
The third name: i don't have it yet, it could be Tabata. My best friend is choosing it!
Luna Alejandra Cannon Angeloni
Luna: i think this name is just beautiful and sweet. Is the name of a character from an story i wrote, an story that i loved.
Alejandra: my mom's name. She's the most important person in my life, so i want to use her name too.
Cannon: yes, i'm a freak, i know it! xD I really love an old tv series named "High Chaparral", Cannon is the last name of the main family. I know most people here don't like the name because of the meanning, but here in Argentina it means nothing ;)
Loreley Julia Gitana Angeloni
Loreley: there was a girl with this name when i was in High School and i always loved it! It's the name of a beautiful japanese song too.
Julia: my best friend's name. I love her so much, so i totally want to use her name too!
Gitana: Gitana means Gypsy girl in Spanish. I will try to explain the pronunciaton, it's really hard because as you can see, my English is horrible! Gi like the word "him" without the "m", ta like in "tan" without the n and na like "nuh". I love all the Romani history and culture and i think the name sounds strong and feminine at the same time!
If i ever had a boy:
Lennox Alonso Angeloni

Date: 2008-09-01 06:22 pm (UTC)All the other names are pretty, though! Except the spelling of Lorelei, I think it looks much more interesting (plus, is correct) with the right spelling.

Date: 2008-09-01 06:32 pm (UTC)Gypsy, gitano and all their counterparts have generally been considered kind of derogatory (the word "gypped" in the English language comes from the word "gypsy). It also implies they're from Egypt, which isn't the case at all -- and it's the case of the majority giving a name to the outsiders, like Indians versus Native American, but worse than that.

Date: 2008-09-01 06:48 pm (UTC)Wow, thanks for telling me that! I didn't know it might be offensive because here in my country is really common to call gypsy people "Gitanos" with any bad connotation!

Date: 2008-09-01 06:31 pm (UTC)Lenora Elsa is pretty too, but I think Elsa Lenora sounds even better =).
I don't really like Lorely Julia Gitana, but I love that there are so many meanings attached to the names you like!

Date: 2008-09-01 09:55 pm (UTC)I also think Cannon is masculine. No matter how it's pronounced or what it means, I just don't like Gitana. It sounds ugly no matter how I say it and it looks clumsy.
