So my co-worker's sister is pregnant and due in March. I asked her today what names she had in mind.

For a girl: Brooklyn Giselle
For a boy: Dante Tomas (to-MAHS, the Spanish prn.)(Her hubby is Puerto Rican)

I don't like Dante Tomas, but I wouldn't be against it simply because it's a Hispanic name for a Hispanic child.

Brooklyn Giselle I totally don't like. The trendiness factor of Brooklyn makes me cringe, and the name sounds quite trashy to my ears. Giselle is nms, but it's a decent name. I'd go with that before Brooklyn any day.

I hate Brooklyn. I like Giselle but more as a middle, not so much a first name.

I'm not in love with Dante Tomas, but it's not bad, and I do like that the mn is a nod to the father's heritage.

I really hate Brooklyn Giselle. Brooklyn is way too trendy, and will sound very dated in 20 years. I think the name screams "blue collar background"- not that that's a bad thing, but I prefer names that are more neutral when it comes to age/race/religion/socio-economic status.

My cousin named her son Dante, so while I like it... I could never use it, because my future kids would be the same generation as he is.

i really despise the whole brooklyn thing going on in the world lately. :/

one of my closest friends has a dog named dante. so, yea. i wouldnt ever give that name to a person, even if i didnt have the dog association.
