(no subject)

A few weeks ago, I pitched the name Aurora to my husband and he actually didn't hate it. I think it's a beautiful name, not to mention I like the idea of having Rory as a nickname because it means "Red king" which has to do with my father-in-law.

The other day he mentioned that he likes the sound of Rory Ann for a first and middle set. I like it as well, and of course am THRILLED that I finally received an opinion from him (It's been quite a battle).

Rory Ann is definitely staying on the table, but I'm still considering other options. I like the idea of Aurora nn Rory because then when she's older SHE can choose what she goes by in case she finds one of them too pretentious or childish or what-have-you.

Do you think Aurora Ann is too much with all the "A"s? The last name will be King, if that makes any difference. Aurora Ann King. Rory Ann King. Even if you don't care for either of the names, WDYT as far as pronunciation goes?

Edit: Thanks everyone, for your opinions! I really appreciate it. :)

Rory Ann flows better but I like the idea of having "Aurora" for the same reason as you mentioned. When she gets older, if she thinks Rory is too childish, she can go by Aurora. I mentioned this to someone else-I'm not a fan of middle names that begin with the same letter that ends the first name. It loses its flow.

i think rory and aurora are both very juvenile sounding names. and i am not a fan of ann with either. sorry.

I love the name Aurora, and I think it sounds fine as Aurora Ann. I like Rory as a nickname, not as the given name.

i like aurora a lot better than rory..just because i feel like rory is really, really awkward to say. i think aurora ann king sounds fine.

I have a nice named Aurora that goes by Rory. It's cool.

I really like Aurora Ann. I think it's a good solid name and she'll have plenty of nickname options as she grows. It's a bit hard to say as a child so I'd just remember that, but otherwise, I really like it. Rory sounds too short, for some reason. Rory Ann sounds a little like Raggedy Ann.

i like both a lot so i am of no help to you. :)

i don't like aurora or rory for the simple reason that i find both extremely difficult to pronounce, and i've discussed that with a few people i know in person (i love names, and i discuss them frequently, everyone i know hates me) and they've all agreed.

rory ann does sound cute and i think it makes rory easier to pronounce, but with aurora being as hard as it is for me, i think ann is too much.

Ah me too! They're both REALLY hard for me to say. And I don't like the way they make me feel, if that sounds weird, oh well. :P

I happen to like it as Aurora Ann with Rory as the nn. A friend of mine's daughter is named Aurora Rose and her parents call her Rory as well, the dad calls her Rory Rose.

I think Rory Ann sounds better. Aurora Ann just doesn't flow well.

Unfortunately I hate Aurora with a passion, in english.
I love it in italian.

I love the letter A, so I'm biased towards not being bothered by that alliteration.

Rory Ann is pretty sweet!

oh I forgot, I will always choose the complete name versus nickname, because of the business card test!

I do not like the sound of Aurora Ann at all. Too many As. Much prefer Rory Ann, even though I'm not really a fan of either.

I know a girl named Alora Ann I----, and I always thought her name was very pretty.

Rory is my favourite boys name, and I love Aurora. Itreminds me of The Northern Lights and I love the Dark Materials books- as in I've read them about 10 times.

I think it's a bit gilmore girls, probably going to fall into some kind of trend trap but if you both like them then go for it.

Aurora King is beautiful.

I'd hate to see Rory as a full name on a girl, and Ann doesn't flow with Aurora at all.

I love Aurora Marianna King
