Sorry this is so long I still can't do an LJ cut. It somehow always goes wrong :S

Anyway, I met a woman today when I was at the park with Ashton. She was with three boys she was calling Andy, Danny & Ashy and a girl called Addy. She said she has a total of 17 kids. So obviously I asked her their names etc.

So these are the names, ages & nicknames of her children.

I think it's interesting how her taste changed from Alison, Amber & Anthony to Addison & Aiden and how the spellings become more unique as she gets older.  WDYT?

I think her oldest children definitely lucked out compared to her youngest children. Yuck at them all beginning with the same letter though.

She said with the first three children it was just a coinsidence because those were just the names she loved. After that she wanted to make all her children follow the same pattern. She also said that her favourite names she chose for her children are Addysin (aka Addison Mackenzie)and Adam Nicholas. I found that really interesting.

This list is like a timeline of how naming trends in the US are heading towards desaster, lol. It's like instead of branching out a little, some people think that spelling common names in the worst way imaginable, somehow creates a new, uncommon name. NO, it does not.

There are more than 10 different names you can give your child, I swear! No need to butcher the Top 10.

After going into labour with Ashton I'm seriously put off having more children anytime soon. I'll never know how she managed to have so many in such a short space in time.

I also agree with the spelling common names in the worst way imaginable thing.
Why anyone would want to spell Alexander "Alexhander" or Anna Gabriella "Annah Gabreyella". I don't know what possesses people to change spellings unless they honestly believe that they're spelling the names the 'correct' way..?

Apparently they think that it makes Emily a more ~*unique*~ name when spelled Emmaleiyghgghhdfsadfss. The gghhdfsadfss part is silent, of course.

Well no, it doesn't. Her name is still Emily. Are they planning on holding up a sign at the playground, instead of calling the kid? So that every parent will know that your Emily is sooooo different from all the thousands of other Emilies? Or should the kid wear a name tag? LOL

I don't get it. If you like the name, name her Emily. If you think it's too common, well then name her something else.

Wow, that's insane. I like Alison Lorraine (I like Alice as a nickname for Alison, too, never seen that before), Adrienne Rose, Autumn Nicole, Anthony Jonathan, Adam Nicholas, and Asher Ryan.

Yeah, with the exception maybe of Asher Ryan, the younger ones definitely got a bad deal. I mean, Annah Gabreyella? Abbygale? Alexhander? lol wut.

Can someone remind me who are the Duggars? Are they that family with 17 kids who all have "J" names? I remember reading about this "J" name family about a year ago and found it funny that the couple were the same ages as my husband and I as well as their oldest child being the same age as my oldest. The big difference was that we stopped at 3 about 15 years ago and they don't all start with the same letter.
