yes, i suppose when i post name ideas, i am looking for a little feedback.

HOWEVER.

i don't really see any reason for the total bitch comments.
i would never downright insult anyone's name ideas,
and believe me, there are some pretty HIDEOUS ones on here.

i'm sure my pointing out how bad the names are
is not going to change the fact that whoever posted them clearly likes them,
quite a lot, in fact, if they are actually considering them for a child.

just comment on the names you like
and give CONSTRUCTIVE feedback
on whether you think names will not age well
or are too popular.

any other opinions
("you're clearly a teenager because of your taste in names")
("you spelled this wrong.")
("these names are awful.") etc.
are completely useless
and are only made by people who feel better about themselves
by being bitches to others.

thanks.

if you want people to take you seriously
perhaps you should write in paragraphs rather
than broken up fragments

in my opinion, those who honestly believe that people make harsh comments to "feel better about themselves" are just trying to make themselves feel better about whatever they're being made fun of for. that's like saying someone is jealous of someone they called ugly. it's ridiculous and incredibly juvenille and if your taste in names (i didn't see the post, btw) didn't hint toward you being a teenager, that comment certainly does.

telling you you spelled a name wrong is just as constructive as "this will not age well" or "this is too popular" and you're coming here asking for opinions, and if some people feel that the name is beyond the help of constructive criticism, you have to deal with that.

Meh...it's a community where people can get opinions on names...that means the good AND the bad. I agree, no one needs to be outright rude, but sorry, some names ARE awful. I know when I ask for feedback, I want people to tell me if they think a name is really out there are bad. There might be something about it I hadn't thought about. If you're going to post in a COMMUNITY and ask for OPINIONS, don't expect people to just blow sunshine up your butt. You sort of need to put on your big girl panties and take the bad with the good.

So if
you feel
that people here have been
unfair,
then take it up with the mod
or just leave the community.
Because flounce posts
like this are
just a way to start drama.

I feel you! That's one reason why I never post in here. I don't want any negativity tainting my love for the name we chose.

I don't feel better about myself when I'm a bitch to others. I feel better about myself when I can help one more child coming into this world have a correctly spelled name.

Lol. A teenager calling someone else a teenager.

"in my opinion, those who honestly believe that people make harsh comments to "feel better about themselves" are just trying to make themselves feel better about whatever they're being made fun of for. that's like saying someone is jealous of someone they called ugly. it's ridiculous and incredibly juvenille and if your taste in names (i didn't see the post, btw) didn't hint toward you being a teenager, that comment certainly does."

Actually people do. More often than not they will pick an easier target than whatever or whomever it was that bruised their ego but it is an ego thing. Someone mocked you calling your cat fluffy so then you went and called the mailman a bastard for doing something you didn't like etc. It has a follow on effect.

Insulting her wasn't exactly helpful of you either. Somewhat proves your own immaturity but well done. I hope it made your day brighter.

it has NEVER been a part of my experience that people actually do insult others to make themselves feel better, and i've had my fair share of senseless ridicule.

and frankly, i'm not sure what i said that was so insulting. are you going to pick on everyone else who replied to the post as well?

Lol. If it's 'not in your experience' then perhaps you don't have much experience? Teenager! Oh look you wrote in fragments! lets mock you too! yays!

In response to your second question:

No just you because you're the only one acting like you're somehow better than the OP.

Would you like a waa burger with your french cries? Oh noes! you iz flamed someone on the interw3bs and didn't like someone commenting back. =~)

I'm all for constructive criticism, but there's no reason to be mean. I think sometimes people are extra mean on the internet because they're frustrated in real life. I don't know tho, everybody's different. Don't let the man get you down : )

Now that I've read your previous post, I can say I'm glad you're leaving, because if you're the kind of person who believes a name can be spelled in whatever way, then clearly you're in the wrong place to begin with.

As we've all pretty much passed 6th grade.

You don't know the person' experience in mocking so you really can't say for sure now can you? I have to agree, most mocking I've experienced (and I have experienced a LOT, let's just get the covered) have been just out of pure meanness and not about an ego thing. I also don't think this person was acting like they were better than the original poster and they didn't really write in fragments either. I think you're just being unnecessarily antagonistic.
