Date: 2008-08-22 12:04 pm (UTC)And I'm ok with Ethan.
The other sound/look too creative for my taste.
I like Quentin instead of Quinton.
For girls, a couple of those seem a mesh between legit names (Viorica = Viola + Erica). I don't really care for any of those.
I don't mind Livia / Liviana and Irena.

Date: 2008-08-22 02:43 pm (UTC)Quentin was at the top of my list also, I would have called him "Q" for short. I thought it was cute, but we're having a girl so nevermind! : )

Date: 2008-08-22 03:11 pm (UTC)Love Irena! Hubby doesn't care for any variation on Irene though. :-(
Like Theodor...I'm assuming you'd pronounce it with a silent "h".
I didn't realize the "r" in Ciaran could be silent, I've always heard it KEER-an.

Date: 2008-08-22 03:16 pm (UTC)Indifferent to: Franklin, Quniton, Terry, Mirabelle and Winifred (I worry about teasing with those, but I kind of like them), Liviana, and Cary
Don't like: Chariton, Ciaron, Gratian (if you have to provide pronunciation guides, it's probably a bad pick), Conleth, Jericho (mostly because I hated that TV show, admittedly), Theron (sounds like someone with a lisp is trying to say Sharon to me), Terrell, Charissa, Constantia, Viorica, Enfys (unless you're Welsh), Sage, and Shea (unless your enormous Mets fans).
I tend to like more classic names, though. None of them are horrible, I just like some more than others. Some would depend on middle names/last names as well.
