What do you think of the name Robin? For a boy or a girl. I don't hear it often and haven't heard it on small children in years.

I like it on both. My previous landlord had a daughter named Robin who was about 10 years old, named after her dad who was also named Robin. And one person on my friends list had a daughter named Robin about 6 months ago. It seems to be used more for girls these days, but I really like the association with Robin Hood as a boy's name.

On girls it seems kind of dated to me, but I LOVE it on boys. It's my aunt's name, so I'd never use it as a first name on a boy, but it's on my list of possibles for a middle name (for a boy).

The Batman associations are just a little too strong for me to use it personally, but I adore it for boys. If I weren't such a Batman fangirl, I'd totally use it. Hell, I might even use it despite that. =P

For girls it's okay but not one I'm hugely excited about. But as long as it's not Robyn, I'm cool.

My opinion of the name has changed because I always thought of it as a girl's name but my best friend's father's name is Robin so now I see it as masculine. Either way I don't really like it.

Personally, I think it's one of the ugliest names I have ever come across. I have never liked it, and even though the one person I know with it is a great family friend, I don't give the name positive associations.

I absolutely hate it. Not to mention every Robin I know has been a complete lunatic. :\

If I had to pick, I would use it as a boy's name.

I adore it. It's actually on my list for boys. I associate it with Robin Hood, which is a story I've always loved.

On girls it sounds very dated, on boys it sounds lovely. The first Robin I met was a boy and it's all boy to me.

It's much too plain for my taste, but it's not a bad name.
I prefer it for a girl because of the bird association, which I find quite fairy-esque :)

Because of the fact that I can never decide whether I like it better on a boy or a girl, I just don't like it at all. It sounds to feminine, to me, on boys, and too masculine on girls. I know a girl named it, around 20, and I know a boy named it, around 17.

I don't care for it. When I picture a little boy named Robin, I picture a little boy in tights. When I picture a little girl named Robin, I picture a bitch.

Neither of those things are pleasing to me.

I like it as a nickname for Robert. Very Elizabethan of me, I know.

Robin Williams comes to mind right away, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I like the name, but probably wouldn't use it.
