I apologize if this has been brought up before i haven't been watching the community very closely lately but i have to talk about this name.

Marley

I am starting to see this name everywhere. An explosion of Marley's are being born.
Boys & girls.

I kinda don't get it.

It's Angelina Jolie's oldest daughter's middle name?

I dunno, that's the only reason I can think of.

I guess it could be cute, but mostly it reminds me of the ghost from A Christmas Carol. Not someone I'd want to name a kid after.

I like most of her kids' names, but Marley never grew on me (neither has Zahara actually). I do love Maddox, Pax, Shiloh and Vivienne, though.

One of my really good friends has a daughter named Marley. I didn't like the name until I met Marley. It's just BEYOND prefect for her. I look at her and see Marley.

I actually like the name. I think that it's really cute. I like it more on girls though. I didn't know that it was getting so popular though.

Yeah, that's what I think of too.

I don't really like the sound of the name.

the first time I had heard it as a first name was actress Marley Shelton. I liked the name for a girl a few years back but have since grown out of it.

In the movie I Am Legend... the guy's daughter is named Marley and they emphasize by playing Bob Marley music.... like YES WE GET IT!

I had a camper named Marlee a few years ago. She'd probably be about...10 now.

hahaha! Yeah, I think of it as a good dog's name. For some reason I get an image of the Marlboro man, too. That pretty much kills it for me for humans.

I kind of like Marley for a girl, actually.

I was almost named Marley. My parents were big fans of Bob Marley.

I ended up being named something that rhymes with it.

I hate Bob Marley's music so much that I can't help loathing the name too.

I see it better on a boy

You are so right. Two girls from my senior class had babies within a month of each other and named them Marley Ella and Marley Emma. I wanted to throw up.

I hate Marley! It sounds like a dog's name, and it reminds me of wannabe rastas. I just don't get it.

That's like my number one guilty pleasure name for a boy.

That was my first thought too. Jacob Marley - not Bob Marley. Either way, it's a crap first name (esp. for a girl). It has a mournful sound to it too.

first of all, its a dogs name.

second of all, add it to the list of names that *might* be cute on a little kid, but once they reach the age of 5, it isnt going to work anymore. too bad.

I - I kind of like it on a girl. It used to make me think of A Christmas Carol, I'll admit that, but now it makes me think of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (I'm in the middle of reading the last book now).

I prefer it spelled Marlee for a girl.

Makes me think of the dance floor, how much said dance floor smells, and how much your body hurts after laying said dance floor.

Nope. Don't like it one bit.
