Yeah, I think a lot of these parents are seriously damaging their kids prospects for the future. Some potential employer sees the name J' rameize Ja Lay and he's probably going to pass on that person before he's even met them. Its not right, but it is pretty common for that to happen.

I have to think being black in America is difficult enough, you really don't need to be burdened with a ridiculous name as well.

I can't help it, are the parents black? I'm sorry if that's rude at all.. ok not really. Most names like this come from black people trying to be trendy.

I don't think it sounds rude, because I was thinking the same about A LOT of these names. I'm sorry but at least 75% of the time, if not more, if you have a name that has random apostrophies, D', L', La, or generally have a bunch of random syllables thrown together...it's a good possibility that the child is black. Or, that's how it seems in my observation at least.

The worst part is...assuming none of these families move, in five years kindergarten teachers are going to have AT LEAST 3 or 4 of these kids IN THE SAME class. This, my friends, is why I will never be a teacher. I would spend half the school year trying to figure out how to pronounce that shit, and the other half laughing my head off and wondering what their parents were HIGH on when they named their children.

I really hope that La'Lillian doesn't have the same speech impediment my sister had... Sally Louise who couldn't say her L's properly... she called herself 'Sowwee The Wheeze' until she was four.

D'Erica's not so bad. She can just drop the D and be called Erica.

I don't understand the feeling that every name has to be unique. As if someone having the same name as your child is he worst thing in the world. Names like Emma Rose or Ava Grace are incredibly popular but that doesn't make them bad or terrible.

There's nothing wrong with ordinary. Parents need to realize that.
