audrey is totally a girl's name. how about aubrey? (for the record, my husband thinks aubrey is a "beat me up in the schoolyard" name. i ran it by him a few months ago.

i actually love audrey for a girl. and i did love aubrey for a boy. the only other aubrey i can think of is the artist aubrey beardsley, who did a lot of strange but cool illustrations in the late 1800s.
here's one of my faves.

Audrey and Aubrey and whatever else that's comparable is strictly a girl name in my book.

I think Aubrey and Audrey used to be boys' names, and sometimes they are still used as such. Most people will think you say "audrey" if you name him "aubrey" so you'll have to do alot of correction...and by looking at the name, almost everyone will assume Audrey is a girl. It's a nice sounding name for a boy, but I would definitely pick something that was more obviously boy (or at least unisex) instead of a name used almost entirely for girls

if you want to compare, here's a chart showing the usage of the name for girls and boys http://www.behindthename.com/top/search.php?terms=audrey&popterm=&gender=both

no, i know it is a boys name, especially amongst the Amish and such. Wasn't saying you are wrong at all, i'm just saying that I know a lot of people who connect it with Elizabeth, ya know?

boys names and girls names do not exist, name your child what YOU like... you see guys named kelly and tracy, don't you?

I've never met a man named Tracy, and the only male Kelley I know was teased mercilessly all through school (even with the more masculine spelling). The thing about naming the kid whatever you like with no thought to what other people will think/say about it is that you're not the one living with the name.

I agree with Muliebrity on this one. It would be nice to think that boys names and girls names do not exist, and that we live in a world free of fixed gender roles etc... but the fact of the matter is, if you name a boy Anabelle Leigh and a girl Butch Cassidy, they are going to have to put up with a lot of crap for the rest of their lives, or until they turn eighteen, whichever comes first.

Sorry I've gotta go with most on here, Audrey is (in my opinion) HORRIBLE for a boy. The gender association is definately primarily female. Aubrey is both.

I think the name Audrey is better suited for a girl.

Audrey Hepburn is too much of an icon for Audrey to ever be taken seriously as a male name, IMO.
Eli is cute, as a nn to Elliott.
