Aw, that's a bit disappointing. I've heard Twilight is really bad.
Granted, I've never read Twilight and the only things that remind me of it are random sparkly vampire jokes people make on the internet. I still like Jasper though. Haha.
I expect to see the popularity of Jasper, Emmett, Alice, Rosalie, Edward, and Esme to rise over the next few years as a result of Twilight- I don't see the same happening to Carlisle unless it flips to a girl's name maybe. I have to admit it's one of the reasons Emmett is on my list now. I don't really like Jasper as much as the others- it sounds like a butler- but maybe after it gets more popular (or I finish the series), I'll feel differently.
It used to make me think of Jasper and Horace from 101 Dalmatians, but now it makes me think of the guy from Twilight, which makes me like it a lot more. So pretty much, I'm a product of pop culture.
I've never read Twilight, but I liked the name ever since the show Avonlea in the late 90's had a cute and bumbling character with that name, so I say thumbs up.
I've never read Twilight either. If anything, Jasper reminds me very vaguely of Casper the friendly ghost or even Gaspard Ulliel. You know, since the names are all kind of related. I like Casper and Gaspard though, so the faint connotations don't really bug me anyway.
What about Casper/Gaspard/related names (http://www.behindthename.com/php/related.php?name=jasper)? Jasper is too Twilight, sadly, and Twilight is bad. Terrible. Pure tripe.
I've never read Twilight so never got the reference that most people seem to get. Honestly I never knew Twilight was that popular, I'd never heard of it until there were all those posts about it on ONTD.
Casper is too Casper the friendly ghost for me and Gaspard will forever be Gaspard Ulliel to me. Though granted, I guess Gaspard Ulliel isn't really a BAD connotation....
I thought it was ugly until I used to watch the most awesome little boy named Jasper, he wasn't that well-behaved but he was so creative and funny and smart and sweet and great, I love the name now.
my ex had a friend named jasper, and he went exclusively by jazz, which is quite possibly the best nickname EVER. so i kind of love it. but i think ill be saving it for a dog or cat.
