A semi-friend had her baby on 8-8-08 at 8:08pm! The friend is 19 and a single mom; that being said, I really thought she'd go for trendy. It's definitely different though.

Effie Ann B____wood

I like it!

Effie? Is it short for anything?

She could have gone with Eightie :P

Effie for Euphemia. Then I like it. Anne as not a filler middle. Then I like it. So, Anne Euphemia B___wood? Lovely.

Ann and Anne are actually said to be different names.

yep, Ann is supposed to be a celtic, unisex name, while Anne/Anna/Hannah is a girls', hebrew name.

Unfortunately I can't seem to retrieve my source!

I'd take that baby to an astrologer, no lie. Must be nice. ^_^

I am not too crazy about the name. Effie reminds me of Dreamgirls, but not in a bad way necessarily. It's not as nickname-y as other -ee ending names are, but I don't think the name will translate well in the proffesional world.

The middle name Ann throws the name way off, sad to say. =\

Effie, reminds me of Lena's little sister from the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. But overall, other than the fact it also reminds of effing, instead of fucking. Well...xD I don't know then.

Me too! Probably because I'm in the middle of the last book right now, :P (wanting to get it finished so that I can see SOTTP2 in theatres without ruinting the ending of the book!)

Ahem. Yes. The name. I like it, even if it does seem a little nickname-y. It also reminds me of a janitor at my old school who was named that; everyone loved her, but sadly, she passed away. :( So I have good conotations with the name!

Lol named after Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants maybe? There's a character named Effie, and I'm pretty sure it's written by an Ann.

That was my first thought!

I wonder if she got that from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (the little sister of the character Lena).

I actually don't mind it, although it's definitely not a name I would have used myself. I like that it's different, but actually a name, and that her middle name is much more common so that she has another option if she doesn't like it.

All in all, I'd give it a B+.

I think Effie is cute. It'd be better as a nickname, but definitely could be worse. :)

dreamgirls was the first thing I thought of, as well.

Effie...it sounds too much like a nickname for me. But its not bad or anything.

Lucky baby, huh?

I'm not a fan of Effie, but I do like that it's one of those names that (as far as I know) is so old-fashioned that people don't seem to like it. Those are my favorite names.

Wow, I had no idea that the name was being used in pop culture. I think the pioneer age when I think of that name. That's what I get for not watching tv or movies~
