I'm all for untraditional nicknames, but I really don't see the connection between Macy and Margaret outside of the opening two letters. Then again Maisy and Daisy are accepted nns for Margaret, so why not?
I still prefer Maggie, though (I acknowledge a bit of a bias: my sister is a Maggie Margaret). Macy is too closely associated with the department store and the parade it sponsors.
But my favourite nickname for Margaret is definitely Margo/Margot/Margaux. Meg is sweet and spry, Greta is deliciously foreign, and Daisy just plain adorable, but Margo is perfect.
I know too many Maggies that I hate with a passion, and I will never be able to hear that name without thinking about them, so I would have too pick Macy, by default.

I prefer Meg or Marge, or other nn's.
