I have heard some interesting/unusual names lately

Locke (boy)
Tallon (boy)

Hate 'em all.

[identity profile] thejoysofjess.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Seconded.

[identity profile] ewaeva.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Bristyn - I don't get this name. Is it a combination of two different names (Brian and Kristin?) with a random y thrown in? It also starts with the word "bris," which is a circumcision ceremony for a Jewish boy.

Kimber - Did someone forget the "ly"?

Dane (boy) - like Great Dane? or a person from Denmark? (I do know someone with this name, and it's not utterly horrible on him, but I'd never use it.)

Fox (boy) - what about Raccoon or Badger?

Liberty - definitely not my style, but probably the best of the bunch.

Neysa - Looks like a name from another language. Nice, if you have the ethnic background to use it.

Knox (boy) - like the fort?

Locke (boy) - the last name of a very boring English philosopher. I don't understand the appeal.

Tallon (boy) - a bird's claw, but spelled wrong.

[identity profile] lipsandhips.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
knox has been a favorite of mine for a while, but its hard to find names to go with it.

the rest sort of suck.

i like tallon for a girl.

liberty makes me want to die (its the name of this goody-goody character on degrassi tng)

[identity profile] turabiannights.livejournal.com 2006-03-04 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Liberty is on Degrassi? Well damn. That explains the resurgence of it on baby naming boards. It's one of my guilty pleasures, but not anymore...

[identity profile] muliebrity.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
No to all. Blech.

[identity profile] lolacat.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
Bristyn - like Kristyn with a B? Not a fan.
Kimber - Eh. Kind of cool, but I like Amber better.
Dane (boy) - ok
Fox (boy) - ok -- like Mulder on X Files
Liberty - I think this is really corny
Neysa - ok
Knox (boy) - hate it - like the gelatin?? no.
Locke (boy) - eh, all right I guess
Tallon (boy) - I wouldn't name my kid CLAW or PAW, so I won't name my kid TALON

[identity profile] ciara-belle.livejournal.com 2006-03-03 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Knox is a brand of gelatin. When I was younger, I did synchronized swimming, and we would buy the clear Knox to put in our hair, because hairspray won't keep it up underwater.

I'm told people also, on occasion, eat it.

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't name my kid CLAW or PAW, so I won't name my kid TALON

but you like Fox, so does that mean you would like DOG or CAT or TIGER?

[identity profile] lolacat.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm... point taken!

[identity profile] partyofthree.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
Bristyn-this has GOT to be made up
Kimber-barf
Dane (boy)-i like this one
Fox (boy)-barf
Liberty-doubel barf
Neysa-blegh
Knox (boy)-the Fort?
Locke (boy)-the door
Tallon (boy)-Laguna Beach much?

[identity profile] partyofthree.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 10:31 am (UTC)(link)

I lurve dane hes a silly bitch ;)

[identity profile] lolzabeth.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Bristyn - 0_o Makes me think of bisto for some reason.
Kimber - Looks like they've missed the "ly"
Dane (boy) - Ok but I prefer Bane.
Fox (boy) - A girl I know named her son Ryan Fox ____. Very X-files. Not my thing but not completely bad.
Liberty - No. Bad.
Neysa - Sounds African... not my thing.
Knox (boy) - As partyofthree said...the fort?
Locke (boy) - Someone's been watching Lost... Not overly bad but I prefer Sawyer :P
Tallon (boy) - Better than some but still don't like it.

[identity profile] jenniferdunn.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
Haha I agree on the Locke comment. He's great on Lost, but Sawyer's the way to go!

[identity profile] lolzabeth.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
He's easily the best character!
Loving the icon XD

[identity profile] lolzabeth.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
I just like the sound of it. It means long-awaited child in Hawaiian.
I always think "the bane of my existance" aswell though, which kind of spoils it. Shame because if I didn't think that I would probably use it for a son.

[identity profile] ladiebug2u.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
My friend's Dad's name is Fox and even he doesn't go by it. He uses his middle name for all paperwork and stuff. People call him Fox but I'm not sure many people know it's his real name.

[identity profile] imyourrapunzel.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
I used to like the name Dane, but then I met someone with that name and they ruined it for me. I don't really like any of those names.

[identity profile] pearshateraqui.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
Dane isn't that unusual a name I don't think. Tallon is though. Makes me think of bird claws.

[identity profile] jenniferdunn.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
I only like Dane. Dane Cook is freaking amazing.

[identity profile] quiet-recluse.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
I don't mind Dane and Tallon. Tallon is one of those names where you first think 'bird claw' but once you know someone called Tallon it's actually an alright name.

[identity profile] mountain-nest.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
There was a Kimber born in my church where I grew up... middle name Lee.

They probably thought they were totally clever and way ahead of us.

[identity profile] mountain-nest.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh and:
Do the chickens have large talons?
;]

[identity profile] secret-x-stars.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
HAHAHAHAHAHA.

[identity profile] mountain-nest.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
Napoleon Dynamite quote.

[identity profile] littlehounddog.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder if the name Dane is growing in popularity because of the comedian, Dane Cook.

[identity profile] wykd-faerie.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
Bristyn - ew. it's like you just took a bunch of names and mashed them together
Kimber-makes me think of the psycho/slut on the show Nip/Tuck
Dane (boy) - meh, i like dane cook but i ono if i like the name
Fox (boy) - x-files.. but no
Liberty - it's ok
Neysa -not my taste
Knox (boy) - no way! he'd be geting "Like fort knox!" all the time
Locke (boy) - noo
Tallon (boy) - claw!

[identity profile] bellisima87.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
the names are a bit strange but i like neysha.. not for a blonde girl with blue eyes but when you have some exotic background then it would be really cool.

[identity profile] mommytoella.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
my friends son is Talan... (he's 3 though) she's so mad about Laguna Beach LOL b/c he wasnt named after the charactor on it LMAO.

Liberty reminds me of a Noggin TV show

Locke reminds me of the guys last name from LOST

and the rest are just horrible

[identity profile] last-summer.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
Kimber sounds incomplete to me, but I knew a girl with that name. I kind of like Dane, but only as a middle name. And Tallon isn't that bad, but it makes me think of Talan from Laguna Beach.

[identity profile] scintillated.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
I like Kimber. She was on Jem and the Holograms back in the 80's!

Dane is alright, too. The other ones, eh.

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Bristyn - Wow that is HORRID. Sounds like Kristen (my name) but soooooo much worse. That is terribleterribleterrible.
Kimber - OMG I detest this name. So lame.
Dane (boy) - yuck
Fox (boy) - oh hell no
Liberty - ugh
Neysa - don't even know how to pronounce that
Knox (boy) - stupid. Fort Knox.
Locke (boy) - horrid
Tallon (boy) - horrid.

[identity profile] pale-september.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)

Bristyn - I really don't like this name for some reason.
Kimber - I don't like it.
Dane (boy) - It sounds a lot like Dave but it's nice.
Fox (boy) - Todd would be a good alternative.
Liberty - Reminds me of crazy rednecks.
Neysa - Not very fond of it.
Knox (boy)- Too redneck for me.
Locke (boy) - This doesn't sound like a name IMO.
Tallon (boy) - When I was pregnant, I really wanted to name my son this. Then I realized how there is no meaning behind it besides it sounds cool. So I changed my mind luckily.

[identity profile] ciara-belle.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't like any of them. Especially not Bristyn.

[identity profile] cathblue7.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Love Dane! :)

[identity profile] ladyofmoonlight.livejournal.com 2006-03-02 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard Kimber, Dane, Liberty and Tallon before, a couple times for the last two. I actually like Bristyn, though I'm not too big on the others.

[identity profile] jessiac.livejournal.com 2006-03-03 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Think they're all pretty dire, apart from Liberty, which I think is quite a sweet girl's name.

[identity profile] home-to-me.livejournal.com 2006-03-03 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
Not big on any of them, but I think Dane and Knox are semi-okay.

[identity profile] 2rulyoutrageous.livejournal.com 2006-03-03 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Kimber ... like the red head on Jem and the Holograms!!! I like it. hehehe although I wouldn't name my kid that.

the rest eh, not so much. :::shrugs:::

[identity profile] cathkitten.livejournal.com 2006-03-05 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Bristyn: NO
Kimber: NO
Dane (boy): This one is fine, actually a legitimate name.
Fox (boy): like Fox Mulder?
Liberty: eh
Neysa: This looks like you just hit a bunch of random keys "Sermsa"
Knox (boy): If its your last name, go for it.
Locke (boy): See above.
Tallon (boy): "My mother named me Beatrice for the character in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. What about you, Tallon?" "I share a name with the tool from Laguna Beach who was briefly engaged to Kimberly Stewart." "Ah."
