Triplet set

Okay, so I'm expecting triplets in January. I'm assuming they're all girls, and I've picked my three favorite names (right now, this could change again in a few months.

Lucy (Possibly Lucille? Thoughts?)
Nora
Meryl

The only thing is that I realized that makes them "L, M, N" which might be too match-y or cutesy, IDK.

So, thoughts on these first names for a set of triplets? (Or individually?)

ALSO, I need help with middle names. I want one of the middle names to be Suzanne, but I'm not sure with which one it goes best with. Middle names suggestions for all 3 would be amazing.

TIA!

- I really like the names and I don't think anyone would notice the L, M, N.

- I'd go with Lucille so when she grows up, she can be offered a more "adult" alternative if she wants.

- I like:
Lucille Suzanne
Nora Belle/Drew/Sophia/Abigail
Meryl Grace/Ann/Audrey

Meryl seems a little...old. Marilyn maybe? Meredith would give you the cute nickname Merry?

Lucy Elaine
Nora Suzanne
Meryl Jolie

Congrats!
Thats a lot of babies and name picking out to do.

I actually like the names (they aren't my style either but I like them alot!). I would use Lucille and use Lucy as a nickname.
I dont love Meryl but it goes well with the other two names
Nora Suzanne works best or Meryl Suzanne

Katherine, Annabelle, Charlotte, Kate, Isabelle, Sara, Jane and names like that come to mind but none of them really go.lol I don't normally like 3 syllable middle names with 2 syllable first names.
wow Im so unhelpful. :( haha

I really really dislike Meryl. The other two are so beautiful and that one just doesn't fit at all to me.

Agreed. The Meryl isn't so bad, just not with the other two names.

Oh my god this is like baby names HEAVEN.

Okayokayokay I need to control myself. Right, so.

*ahem*

I love Lucille with the nn Lucy, because Lucy sounds too nn-ey already, because it ends with an -ee sound. So I would suggest her full name be Lucille and then her nickname be Lucy.
Nora is nice, it's a little plain though, but you can spice it up a bit with a really neat middle name. Nora Azalea?
And I'm not really fond of Meryl. It looks...weird:\

I think Lucille Suzanne is a nice combo.

Congrats on the babies:]

Nora Lindsey

Meryl Joanne
Meryl Alina
Meryl Emma
Meryl Yvonne

Oh, I LOVE your names! Meryl is beautiful but I kind of think Maeve would fit better in this set.

"Lucy" ideas:
Luciana
Lucille
Lucia

Nora Suzanne is a good name :)

Middle names:
Lucille Katherine
Lucille Irene
Lucille Mae
Nora Molly
Nora June
Nora Grace
Meryl Renee
Meryl Belle
Meryl Elizabeth
Maeve Pearl
Maeve Joy
Maeve Hope

Good luck with those babies :)

I love Lucy and Norah with an h is one of my favorite names ever. I'm not a huge fan of Meryl, but it's okay. I like that they are all more old fashioned and would sound grown up on an adult, but are still cute on little kids. I'd go with Lucille as the full name for Lucy (if you want one) because it fits well with the others.

I don't think it's that matchy. I didn't notice the LMN thing until you mentioned it. It would be more noticable if it was ABC or something.

Nora Suzanne sounds best out of the three, I think.

Other middle name ideas: Jeanette, Alice, Margaret.

Meryl Jeanette, Lucille Margaret, and Nora Suzanne?

omg. triplets!! how excited!!

i don't think l, m, n is even noticeable..so i think it'd be fine. i like lucy and nora. i like lucille too, but it seems very mature(?) for a baby or child in my opinion. i don't really like meryl that much.

suzanne is okay, but i like susannah a lot more. i think it's prettier and is a lot less..harsh, i guess. i think lucy susannah or nora suzanne would sound nice.

Good luck with the triplets!

Meryl does sound a little old but I'm using Elmer as a middle name for my son (due end of Dec) and would have used Ruth as a middle name if he had been a girl. :) And those are old names, too.

ooooh triplets! how exciting! i adore Nora with a passion, and I love Meryl, but Lucy sounds a little nickname-y to me. still, they make such a graceful combo together.

How about

Lucy Margaret/Hyacinth/Annelise/Gabrielle
Meryl Eve/Anne/Agnes/Phoebe/Eloise
Nora Katherine/Maeve/Suzette/Hazel

i can't wait to hear what you pick!

I like all three of your names in varying degrees. I'm not crazy about Meryl, but it's really interesting and would probably grow on me if I knew someone with that name. Lucy is such a cute name and much, much nicer than Lucille! Don't cave, stick with your gut on this one. It is young-sounding, but it's a name that's been around for awhile so I think most people would be able to take an adult Lucy seriously. And Nora has been one of my favorites since I was like five, it's fantastic.

The only problem I see with these names as a set is that Lucy and Nora have been getting increasingly popular lately and have the potential to really skyrocket in popularity in the next few years I think, whereas Meryl's pretty obscure. Triplets named Lucy, Nora and Meryl now could end up being like triplets named Lauren, Ashley and Meryl in the 80s. I don't think that would bother me that much, but if you're concerned about their names being a cohesive set I'd mix things up and either pick something a little less trendy than Lucy or Nora or a little less obscure than Meryl.

Oh, and I like Nora Suzanne better than Meryl Suzanne or Lucy Suzanne.

First, the boy girl scout in me says that you should definitely have some backup boy names in case there are some boys in there. It can't do any harm, and you'll be in a real pickle if you end up being wrong. You know what they say about when you assume! ;)

Now then, your names!

Lucy is awesome and one of my favorite names, but I agree that it looks nicknamey. I'm not crazy about Lucille, but Lucia or Lucinda are nice alternatives to me.

I love Nora, but I'd love it even more as a nn for Eleanor.

Meryl I do not like, and I don't think it really fits with the three, but I love Lucretia (as a fn for Lucy, actually) and few others like it, so I can understand. =) Personally I love the suggestions that another member made for Etta or Eva (especially Etta; I think it goes great with the other names).

Few mn suggestions:

Meryl Sadie
Meryl Daisy
Meryl Sophia
Meryl Violet
Meryl Chloe

Nora Hazel
Nora Lillian
Nora Evelyn
Nora Josephine
Nora Jean

Lucille Clara
Lucille Georgia
Lucille Caroline
Lucille Elise
Lucille Bianca

The only time I think it is okay to "match" names, is when they're sets. I don't mind your choices, although I am not a big fan of Meryl. Plus your matching isn't too noticeable at all.

I think Nora Suzanne sounds better than Meryl Suzanne or Lucy Suzanne.

I would say:
Nora Suzanne
Meryl Lynne
Lucy Elaine

I dunno... I kinda like the middles all having -ne endings with different sounds.

I think they're adorable! Although I do prefer Norah with an H and Meryl, although lovely, is a little tougher than the other two-- she could be the odd one out with the more unusual name, but she could just as easily be the really spunky or feminine one.. so probably not a big deal, lol. Lucille is nice, but gives the set too much of an old fogey vibe.

The first two are names I've actually considered.. middle names depend on your tastes

Lucy Eleanor/Elena
Norah Jane/Renee
Meryl Lenore/Helena

Some might not go together, but there's some ideas..
Perhaps family names for middle names? Or you could try being a little themey for middle names.. use plant/flower/herb names or something (I'd mix it up with plants and flowers, not just flowers). Perhaps give them all middle names that have the same number of syllables so the names have the same a cadence. Lol, I'm not usually in to matchy matchy, these name just seems to invite it a little. The three are definitely all o the same genre, IMO.

Ohh.. I'd love to have triplets! Hope all goes well for you.

Given that many people use Nora as a nickname for Eleanor (arguably most common origin of the name), wouldn't that make Lucy Eleanor and her sister Norah a bit... funky? Unless you turned it into a self-referential triplet Thang, like so:

Lucy Eleanor
Nora[h] Mary
Meryl Lucille

Not to my taste, but I'm sure it's somebody's cup of tea!

I quite like Meryl, actually. I'd be more likely to use it than Lucy or Nora.

I like Lucy, it's much better than Lucille IMO. Also, Meryl is a nice choice, I'm sure your daughter wouldn't have run into many other girls with her name. And I like Nora as well. My suggestion would be to pair these names with some unique middle names to jazz them up a bit.

I like these as middle names:

Emerson
Eden
Isla
Tristan
Winter
Victoria/Victory
Tabitha
Satine
Sasha
Quinn
Priscilla
Avery
Clementine
Vienna

I could continue, but I think I'll stop...lol

I really love the names Nora(h) and Meryl(l), not so fond of Lucy though.

Lucy Marie
Lucy Mae
Lucy Jude
Lucy Jade
Nora Suzanne
Nora Sue
Nora Caroline
Nora Mae
Meryl Emmeline
Meryl Louise
Meryl Trude
Meryl Anne
Meryl Noreen

Triplets are a blessing by the way.

I like Lucy, but that's about it. Lucille is just so old, and if you named her that, I'm sure that you'd just call her Lucy anyway, so I would go with Lucy. I would say that Meryl Suzanne sounds the best, but they're both older names, so it's a bit too much.

As a set, to me, the three don't really go together for some reason. They all seem like they're a different style to me.

From: [identity profile] googlebee-ohmi.livejournal.com
I love all three of your names! Very classy. I think that Lucy is fine as a name and that Lucille just doesn't flow with the other two.

Lucy Abigail
Nora Marianne
Meryl Catherine.

I think that Meryl is a pretty name - but definitely give her a more common (or more nickname-able middle name...) that way if she decides she doesn't like it she can go by it. That is what happened to my cousin Karen. She didn't like her name so when she went to grade school she told the kids to call her Alex since she is Karen Alexandria (now we all call her Alex! haha.)
