Ummm well these are pretty ridiculous but I have a Jane in my group of friends and we call her:

Jazzy
Jingles
Janius
Johann
Janie

None of them are shorter than Jane though...And they're all kind of strange.

Johann, ha. I wouldn't mind being called that. Unless that's not pronounced the way I think it's pronounced.

It's hard to shorten Jane, but Jay could work.
I like Janey.

All I can think of that's actually shorter is Jay.

Jane's a favorite of mine, and I love Janie for a nickname.

Jay was the first thing that came to mind. Or you could use NeNe... like nay-nay.

From "Magic for Marigold" by LM Montgomery:

"Why not call the baby Jane," said Uncle Peter briskly. "My
mother's name--a good, plain, sensible name that'll wear. Nickname
it to suit any age. Jenny--Janie--Janet--Jeannette--Jean--and Jane
for the seventies."
