Aug. 4th, 2008 01:43 amFor fun...my guy & I were talking about names & we love August for a girl. I like August Kate, but Kate is taken by family. Any suggestions for something similar?
Also... we are obsessed with Roman names (obviously) and our cats are named Augustus & Livia. We call them Gus & Livie.
Anyway- fast forward 5-10 years, if I named my firstborn daughter August, would that be weird considering my cat's name?

And yeah... to me August Anna is total A overload, though I like both names separately. I don't like alliteration at all (sadly if I marry my b/f I'll be Lindsey Leach...)

Date: 2008-08-04 07:30 pm (UTC)I'm thinking about keeping mine...but I've been saying since 6th grade that I can't wait to get married so I can get rid of it. It's awful, German, lots of gooky letter combos... the source of many mean nicknames that I can't get over... etc.

This post gave me the great idea of using the name August instead of Augusten. I would never use Augusten but love Augusten Burroughs!

Date: 2008-08-04 07:14 am (UTC)About the cat, you could always change his name to Asparagus like Gus from Cats. Or the mouse from Cinderella is named Octavius but nicknamed Gus. But only if it bothered you.

Date: 2008-08-04 11:44 am (UTC)Little August will be ten...this SEPTEMBER.
I think it works on a girl, but I don't think any of the nicknames work.

Date: 2008-08-04 12:05 pm (UTC)August Frances?
August Faye?
I've also heard of a few girls being called October.

Date: 2008-08-04 01:45 pm (UTC)Augusta Louise
Augusta Rose
Augusta Jane
I don't think it would be weird. My parents had a dog named Mikey and still named my brother Michael.
