[identity profile] aqualectra.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My daughter turns 13 in December. Im expecting baby no. 2 in September.

Ceilidh (pron. Kaylee) is my first daughters name. do you think Keeley is too similar in sound? its one of my fave girls names but i worry its too similar.

if the baby is a boy his name will be Finn Nicholas. but im am completely stuck on a girls name. I'm still playing with Seren and Salome also.

Im very confused.  thanks for any suggestions!

EDIT: any suggestions for middle names to go with Seren and Salome?

I do think Keeley is too close to Ceilidh, but I'm totally in love with Seren and its meaning. Salome is nice too.

They are too similar and I also hate the name so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I love the name Ceilidh though!! How is Salome pronounced? I kind of like the look of it but may be saying it wrong. lol
I do like Finn Nicholas

My friends actually chose to pronounce it sa-LOAM, like Shalom with no H. I guess that's the way they'd always heard it in church.

I think SAL-o-may is prettiest myself.

I like Sally as a nn. But my sister's name is Sally so I'm biased. It's a kicky fun nn that people always remember.

Keeley is definitely too similar. Way too similar.

Seren makes me think of sarin gas. My best friend's daughter is named Salome, so I really like that. It gets a lot of blank looks from people the first time they hear it though.

Haha - My daughter's middle name is Salome and my MIL accidently said Salami to my FIL when we told it to her over the phone (she debates on whether her hearing is going and takes complete blame for this mishap).

My FIL now has his own personally nickname for her - slices - I still love the name though. I think Keely is too close, and Seren is lovely, but Salome wins for me hands down (either pronounced Sal-oh-May or like Shalom, the '-ee' ending I find unappealing).

I love Finn as well :)

I pronounce Salome (actually Salomé) as Sal-oh-MAY.
I vote for this one.

"Kaylee" is way too close to Keeley!!

Finn Nicholas is really cool :)

I agree with what everyone else said about Ceilidh and Keeley, haha. Is Ceilidh the Gaelic spelling of Kaylee, or were you trying to be...original? I think you've posted about her name before, and if I remember correctly, it was a special (by special, I mean acceptable, don't worry) spelling of Kaylee. Would you care to go into further detail? Does your daughter like the spelling of her name?

Anywayzzzzzzz, I like Finn Nicholas a lot:]. Salome sounds too much like "salami" for my taste, and I kind of want to say "dipity" after Serene, but I like Serene better than Salome. Congrats on being pregnant:]

I agree with other people that they're too close.

I love Finn Nicholas so much though.

I think Keeley is definitely too close in sound to Ceilidh. It is basically just one vowel sound off.

Keely is DEFINITELY too close to Ceilidh in sound, and also completely doesn't match in style, imo.

I prefer Seren to Salome, but neither is my style.

Yes, I do think Ceilidh and Keeley are too similar sounding. But if you love it so much, why don't use it as a middle name for Seren and Salome?I love Seren but I think Keeley would go better with Salome.

Salome Keeley? how do you like it?

I love Ceilidh. I think that it's so pretty. I do definitely think that Keeley is way too similar sounding. I like Finn Nicholas. Looking at it, Salome kind of reminds me of salami (that's probably just me), but I like the way that it sounds.

Way too close. Seren is way prettier anyways.

i think keeley is way too similar, but you could always go with another k name. i think that'd be fine.
