So I work at a jewish camp and I have never come across half of the names i hear or the spellings.

Lets start with boys

Asher- now this is one of the most common along with Michael, Davids and such. I was told that this is a really popular name within the jewish community i guess. I never really heard it outside of camp.

Noam- Again I am told this is a very jewish name.

Caden- also has two brothers named Dylan and Grayson

Avi- not comon at all

Then the normal but not so common names

Paul- Only heard this a couple times at camp including the kid I work with

Jeffery

Theo

Brian/ Ryan- surprisingly these names i barely hear in camp but out of camp i hear it all the time.

Girls turn

Not so common

Alice

Shayla

Noa- pronounced Noah

Cordelia

Abigail/Abby- This name is so common at camp, its crazy.

Gabby- very common

Hannah- very common

Sarah/Sara- of course tons of Sarah's but only two Sara

That is all that really comes to mind right now. Mind you there are alot of kids at camp and you only see and hear so many.

I love love Asher. I kinda like Noam too, but all I can think of with that name is Noam Chompsky.

How do you pronounce Avi?

The Avi I know pronounces it Ah-vee. That's the only way I can think of, especially considering it's a Jewish name, that's the only way I see it being pronounced.

I went to college with a guy named Avi (I didn't really know him that well though, but everyone knew who he was, which isn't hard with a school of only 2,000). He has a Jewish background but didn't follow the religion.

I actually quite like Paul, but that is probably only because I idolize Paul Wellstone.

I really love the name Avi. I like Ari better though.

I love the name Asher. And Ryan. I prefer the spelling of Sara to Sarah, & I really only like Noah spelled that way...

Ever since I found out that there's a girl version of Noah, I like it. I think that Noa's kind of pretty.

Asher was a name used in The Giver by Lois Lowry. If you didn't read it in middle school you so should, it's great.

Aww, my kitty's name is Noa! I haven't seen it much elsewhere and never in this community. I loved the name so much, I just had to give it to my kitten, since children are a few years off.
