First of all, I was wondering what everyone thought of Zaida/Zayda as a middle name with the first name Lily. I want a unique middle name in case my daughter ends up in a class with 10 girls named Lily or something. We're coming down to the wire here! Only 12 days until my EDD! :-O Opinions on using Zaida/Zayda as a middle name?

And now for some funny stuff I wanted to share!

Don'Trez Da'Shawan, born to India
Le'Bron Ze'Kai, born to Quenelle.
Ja'Cobie Tra'Neal, born to Cortisha and Brian.
Praise Kaleece, born to Laquita and Cleophus.

WHY do people do this? LOL

I think Zaida is cute. What about Zaida Lily if you're worried about being unique? At any rate -- cute.

Uggh I hate Zaida/Zayda, I hate all Z names sorry if this offends if your looking for something unique why not a family name? or Felicity, Ameila, Talia, or Catriona?

I don't like Zaida either, no matter how its spelled.

Lily Zane (Zayne)

might be an option if you like it

I like Zaida. Lily Zaida is pretty. I think Z should be a pretty unique initial to have if she ends up in a class of Lily's :o)

Zaida is a great name!! i love it. :)

pronounciation should be easy (for a second, i thought it could be pronounced Zah-ee-da... till i saw you wanted to spell it Zayda, maybe, but that might be because my parents are foreign?), it doesn't look outlandish or made up, but unique enough. :)

I think it's nice as a middle name.

-----From behindthename.com -----
ZAIDA
Gender: Feminine
Usage: Arabic
Feminine form of ZAYD

ZAYD
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Arabic
Other Scripts: زيد

Means "growth", derived from Arabic ziyada "to increase". Zayd was a slave who became the adopted son of the Prophet Muhammad.

-----------

Nice meaning, possibility that it might be weird to have an Arabic name if you're not from that background yourself.. but I think it's a nice middle name all the same. Meaning together: lily growth? sounds like a flower growing. Not necessarily a bad thing.

I love Zaida. I'd probably use it as a first name though, Lily is getting pretty popular.

It has a pretty sound to it, although I immediately think "Lily Grandpa" since "zayde" is pronounced similarly and means "grandpa" in Yiddith

I don't think it would be a problem though since it's a middle name and not too common of a word for Grandpa unless you live in a community with a decent sized Jewish community.

I don't like the name Zaida... it looks and sounds so harsh in my oppinon and Lily sounds so girly. I don't think those names match together..

If you like Lily but want unique, and sticking with the 'Z' names, Zanna means lily in Latin.

I think Zayda is horrible. No matter how its spelled. And honestly do you really think that if you call a child Lily for 5 years, she'll suddenly switch it up and go by her middle name if there are other Lily's in her class? Doubtful. Cue 5 replies of "I switched to my middle name when I was 7!"
