Just want some honest opinions so I can be prepared for later on.

My husband and I have decided to name our daughter Serenity Rose.

What do you think?

Very pretty!

I have always said Serenity is the most beautiful name. But I'd never use it.

Serenity feels a little too trendy, but it's not bad.

Maybe that's what the name brings to mind for you now, but once this little girl is called Serenity, everyone who knows her will associate "serenity" with her and will grow to love the name even if they didn't before.

You can say that about any name though, that doesn't make any name a great one because of it. I bet little MiCkaehlyah Vyper's parents associate "MiCkaehlyah Vyper" with her and others have grown onto the name.

Hmmm yeah, you're right.

I guess I was just thinking that with some names that people think are stripper names (e.g Skye, Trinity, etc) that it's a weak association that can easily be replaced. But on the other hand, I think there are some names that will always sound like stripper names no matter how beautiful the child is (e.g "Dusti Starr"). I suppose I just think that Serenity is one of those names that won't hold a stripper association for very long if at all. I prefer Serena because it sounds more like a name than a word.. but I do think you could do a lot worse than Serenity.

Both names are beautiful in their own right, but might be a bit much together (overly hippyish and such).
People might also associate Serenity with the movie.

just remember, there are rabid sci-fi fans (looks guilty) who may love it since it was the name of the Firefly Movie that just came out.

It sounds a bit like a candle fragrance (that comes in a box with Mystic Forest and Peaceful Lily.)

Also be aware that Serenity is a brand of adult diapers.

And there's the expressiong "Serenity now!!!"

Those associations aside though, I do think the name is pretty. I'm just trying to, as you say, prepare you.

Serenity reminds me of sanity products. Rose is a lovely middle name though.

Serenity makes me think of the movie. But then again Trinity makes me think of the Matrix LOL so all in all go with your gut :)

Heh, sorry, it's just that the name Serenity has been forever ruined for me by

pottersues, Seinfeld and the movie.

But I think Rose is really lovely.

It's from Seinfeld. I can't remember exactly, but basically George's father had somehow found out a stress management technique from some relaxation tapes - whenever you feel stressed you yell out "SERENITY NOW!"

And then later on, Lloyd Braun (who had just recovered from a nervous breakdown) said something like, "Serenity now, insanity later." (implying that it was the Serenity now tapes that had caused him to break down)..

Only Seinfeld fans will make that reference though.

Rose is a beautiful middle name that fits with mostly anything.
Serenity is... ahh.. not my taste. It sounds sort of pretty i suppose but I don't like it much at all as a name i'm afraid. I like Serena though.. that's vaugely similar!

i dont like it. it doesnt sound like a real persons name. its what you name science fiction cartoon characters. i would pity the poor girl once she got to adulthood.

Rose is sweet. If my brother ever has a daughter he wants to call her Lucy Rose.

Serenity is pretty. Not a fan of Rose.

I don't like Serenity at all. Especially combined with Rose. Its way too frilly and girly. I don't think a name like Serenity will age well at ALL. It doesn't even sound like a name to me.

Serena Rose, maybe?
