I can't decide which to use for a girl (if we have one). My husband and I both like different spellings and we're having a hard time figuring out which one would suit best.

If you have any other suggestions or spellings not listed here (didn't think I missed any, could be wrong), please feel free to let me know! =]

Edit: And I don't want to hear any crap about using Marie as a middle name. I know it's considered "filler" by some. But, it happens to be my maternal Grandmother's first name and my middle name, so I'd like to keep that family tradition. This is my family's first great grandchild and it means a lot to me to use Marie if we have a girl. Deal with it.

I like Sofia best, Sophie second, and Sophia third. However, unless you live in a country where Sofia is the common spelling (ie, Italy, Spain, Mexico, etc.) or have a strong connection to one of those cultures, I'd avoid spelling it as Sofia because it's so clearly from one of those cultures. I do love it, though.

Based on your middle/last name, I'm assuming you're not Latino or Italian or anything, so I'd stick with Sophia/Sophie. Sophie Marie sounds best to me, but I like both.

I voted for Sophia, but you could use Sophie as a nn, perhaps.

i like sofia first, sophia second, and thirdly, sophie. the double "ee" from first and middle names doesn't strike me as well as the other two... today ;)

I love the name Sophie, but Sophie Marie is a little too repetitive for me so I like Sophia Marie best in this case.

Sofa Marie

When I see Sofia spelled with an "f" I always think Sofa. So Sophia is preferable for me.

I think Sophia/Sofia Marie flows better. I prefer the f-spelling as opposed to the ph.

I voted for Sofia, just because that spelling is not one of the most popular names.

I think the two names are much two popular. Sophia is number six in the US, and Marie tends to be a filler middle name. Not always, but pretty much everyone I know has the middle name Marie just because it sounds nice. I'm an Emily, so I know how it feels to have a popular name, and I absolutely hate it. If you really love Sophia/Sophie/Sofia, then maybe you should use a less common middle name? Sophie Azalea (a ZAYL yah) for example?
I hope I'm not sounding rude or anything, I just want you to know before you name your baby something really popular. Congrats on being preggers though:]

I think Sophie Marie sounds better, although I think I like the name Sophia better by itself.

Aw, you don't have to be sorry by any means...and you don't have to re-explain your reasons to those who don't prefer Marie, we read it in your original post. Besides, even if you were just using it because you like the way it sounds, it's your choice and that would be good enough reason for me.

Speaking from the 'growing up not too long ago' part, Sofie/Sofia runs a very large chance of being called Sofa if she's even remotely chubby in primary grades.
I did go to school with three girls in the same class- Sophia, Sofia, and Sophiya. I really do prefer the first spelling.

Sophia Marie has a much better ring that Sophie Marie, for statement purposes, though you do get used to everything over time.
