Feb. 23rd, 2006 01:59 pmOkay. So please,
HELP!
We are going in for our ultrasound on March 13th where we plan to attempt to locate sex and chose name for baby.
I have a girls name all picked out, but am COMPLETELY STUMPED on boys names.
My husband’s favorite name? Xanth….
I like it, but it just doesn’t seem right!
Some of my suggestions have been:
Xavier
Rex
Laurance (Law for short)
Adam
Adric
Clark
Acheron
Jordan
Kelric
Crighton
Trystan
Wesley
I want something not too popular, nothing that was high on the list last year…. (I’m a Jennifer, so I hate popular names!)
We both love SciF/Fantasy type names, names from books, ect.
Any ideas?
I like the idea of using the Middle name of Isaac, as it’s a family name.
HELP!

Date: 2006-02-23 01:29 pm (UTC)Adam is the name I would like to use when I have a son, so it's definitely my favourite, but might be too normal for your tastes.
It's spelled LaurEnce. That's a good name, too. I love Laurence Isaac!
I don't like Tristan because it sounds emo, but if you want to use it, please spell it with an i.

Date: 2006-02-23 01:41 pm (UTC)It was a created by Sir Walter Scott for a character in his book Ivanhoe - I don't usually like character names, but I think this one's been around for long enough that it's a legit name in its own right (and it's apparently based on a real Welsh name?).

Date: 2006-02-23 04:37 pm (UTC)Please don't use Crighton!
I'd suggest looking at ancient Greek names..
I'm reading a book & the main character is called Aeneas- Greek Mythology.
I've just googled some ancient Greek names & some of them are kind of cool, if not a little weird!
:-)
Aeson
Hero
Leo
Nicandros
Orpheus
Theo
Theas
Conon
Corydon
Brison

Date: 2006-02-23 06:56 pm (UTC)Xavier: Better than Xanth.
Rex: Dog's name.
Laurance (Law for short): Lawrence or Laurence. Laurance looks weird.
Adam: love it.
Adric: a name? for your CHILD?
Clark: not my style but better than a lot of the ones on here.
Acheron: wtf
Jordan: too trendy, but OK if you must
Kelric: omg NO!!!
Crighton: see above
Trystan: I talked to a friend's 13 year old son the other day and he said everyone in his class thinks Tristan is a "wimpy dork name."
Wesley: eh
I think your best bet is Adam Isaac, Clark Isaac or Jordan Isaac. Remember, though you like scifi, your child may not.

Date: 2006-02-26 03:46 pm (UTC)I dont like the spelling choice of Trystan, Tristan is a stronger form, especially for a boy (in my opinion)
