(no subject)

I think I just heard the worst twin names ever:  Diane and Diana.  Really?!?!?  Their parents couldn't come up with anything better than that?

At the first quick glance, I thought that they were the same thing. That is awful. I don't understand how these people apparently only know one name. There was nothing else in the world?

Not cool.

Besides the fact that I like Diana and dislike Diane, any pair of names which would naturally lead to the same nicknames for both children is not cool in my books.

IAWTC 100%

Plus, my name is Diana, and I get called Diane all the time and I HATE it! I hate that name sooooo much!

Yeah, it's weird that one letter can make so much of a difference, but it's true in a lot of cases for me ... I love Diana, Joanna, etc., but not the -anne variants. I see the same huge distinction between Anne and Anna on their own, but weirdly enough I like those pretty much equally.

That's just so ... WHAT?! WHAT would possess you to do such a thing?

I know 4 year old twin boys named Akias and Akimas, and twin toddler girls named Christina and Christiana. Every time I see their names I shake my head. I remember seeing a picture of twin sisters that survived Hurricane Katrina named Kiera and Kiara. I just don't get it.

Uh... that's ridiculous.

At least they didn't replace the Is with Ys for no good reason.

I know a set of identical twins named Shanea and Shanae. What's worse is that they are 20 years old and still dress exactly the same.

When I was in the baby names section of Yahoo! Answers*, some woman said that she liked twin names to match because twins aren't common. I wanted to strangle that lady, because what about giving two kids identity? As if anyone wants to be labeled "The Twins" for the rest of their life, it's made worse because their names are identical.

*Don't ever go there; unless you are one with plenty of tact and patience. The names some people come up with are horrendous.

So no, that woman probably couldn't come up with anything better. I'm betting that have the same middle names, too.

I would just purposely call one dye-AUN-na and the other dee-ANNE to at least have some kind of difference between the two..
