i love the name cecilia and I think it sounds fine with your last name! My grandmother's name is cecilia but she goes by celia..i love it! it's on my short list of names too :)
i would spell it cecilia too, but cecelia isn't too bad. you could also opt for celia or similar names. some suggestions: cecile (not nearly as popular as cecilia) cia ellie lia lucia mia mina mira nia nydia rhea sarina sela sylvia
its a fine name, and sounds fine with the last name.
my office-mate's name is cecilia and i disagree with this "lots of nicknames" thing. and its a mouthful to say as is. and the only nickname is really c.c. or ceese (if you tried to say cc) and those arent really appropriate for the work-environment.
Oh, wait, I thought of another idea - what about Celia?
I think that's very pretty. Although I really like Cecilia, some people have said it's a bit of a mouthful. Celia Conti sounds beautiful - classy and elegant and cute, too - both for a little girl and a grown woman.
Also, you avoid the etymology of Cecilia - it comes from the word for "blind" as someone's mentioned already. Celia's root word is caelum - Latin for heaven :)
Cecelia is beautiful. I'm a fan of any 'lia' name Amelia, Cecelia, Ophelia...lol all of them! I don't think it's trendy at all. Possibly too old/posh if anything... Cecelia Conti goes very well.
i really think im leaning towards this name...i really have no idea about the middle name though. i would love for it to be Nancy, it was my grandmothers name. i was also thinkin of nameing my daughter after her completely..but idk...Nancy Marie Conti? Cecilia Marie? Cecilia Nancy..blah
