[identity profile] callused-cures.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I know this has nothing to do with baby names... but I am going to be changing my last name to my biological father's. I was just wondering what other people's oppinions are.

I will be going from:
Stephanie Sara Muir
to:
Stephanie Sara DeBeer

Yes I know the ammount of shit and joke's I'll get for my soon to be new last name, but do you know how much shit I already get for my current one.

So what do you guys think?

I like them both!
Muir sounds welsh, and I love that welsh allure, DeBeer makes think of DeBeers diamonds, so I'd say glamourous :)

I can see the "beer" jokes on the new one (but the diamonds reference is still the strongest one to me), but why were you teased about your current last name?

It's okay. DeBeer is a well-known name, so you might not get a lot of shit for it?

What's wrong with Muir?

I went to primary school with someone called Stephanie Beer so it reminds me of her. I think it's fine -- we normally can't choose our last names (and even in your case where you're choosing to change it, it's not like you are picking any name at all) so it's luck of the draw anyway with those.

Those are fine reasons, you just said that people make fun of Muir and I was wondering why.
