Fitting In/Standing Out
Jul. 12th, 2008 12:51 pm"This is one of our most popular lists, and one that's much more difficult to construct than it seems at first sight. As you probably realize if you've been hunting for the right name for more than a few days, most names fall on one wrong side or another of the golden mean that will allow your child both to fit in with peers, and stand out among them. Scroll down any index of names and the problem becomes instantly apparent: Aba, too weird; Abena, too weird; Abida, too weird; Abigail, too normal! Yet many parents are looking for a name that is right smack in-between, which we hope you will find on this list. Because so many parents are interested in this category, we've tried to be as inclusive as possible - and as a result, you might find some of these names too weird or too normal. But there's also a good chance you'll find a choice among them that strikes the perfect note."
Also, I don't know if anyone cares, but a few days ago I posted about a name that sounded like Liam with an N and we decided it was probably a pronounciation of Leon. I looked at the attendance sheet and the name is Lien. Maybe it's a Caribbean name, cause he comes from there.
