Another Hanson had another baby, who also goes by his middle name (it's a Hanson theme, if you don't know already). Isaac Hanson's brand new baby boy: James Monroe. I have to say, not a fan, and it is probably my least favourite of the Hanson children names.

2. why do they insist on using the middle names as first? why not just go with monroe james? it sounds better, plus it's not the name of a president.

I really like the name James. But yeah, there's that whole president thing. And why name him James Monroe if they're just going to call him Monroe?

Maybe it's kind of a family thing. Taylor Hanson's first name is Jordan and his middle Taylor.
Still, it's definitely a bit of a stupid and confusing tradition.

I've never understood the idea behind naming your child something and then calling them by their middle name anyway. Except maybe if it was a tradition to give the first son his father's name, and then you called him his middle name or something ... but to do it with all the kids is just so weird to me.

Even weirder is that there is one exception to this rule - Taylor's youngest son is River Samuel, and they call him River.

One of my best friends does the same thing in his family. Something to do with pissing a great-grandmother off I think. He's Joseph Evan "Evan", his brother is Charles Christian "Christian" and his father is Charles Clark "Clark".
