Baby Names
Jul. 10th, 2008 09:39 pmHello all! I've been lurking around here for a few weeks now, and thought I'd throw a question out there, based on another post I just read. Seeing how mixed the reaction is to baby name meanings, I was wondering what your favorite baby names MEANT?
For us, Valen and Virgyl are our favorite boy names, and they both mean Strong, based on the same Latin root.
Zoe means Life, Kaida means "little dragon", and Vega means Meadow. (Meadow is kinda lame as far as meanings go, but I have become completely obsessed with it for the last few days now.)
Whaddaya think?

Elijah - The Lord is my God

A few of these I actually like the meaning for -- Norah, Anne, Hugh, Noah -- but the rest not so much. A lot of the boy names are Hebrew in origin and have really strong Biblical meanings, and since I'm an agnostic lesbian . . . yeah, not so much, hahahaha. But I still love the names and the history behind them. I mean, it's unlikely that a name like Caleb or Noah is going to be going anywhere anytime soon -- talk about staying power;)

Date: 2008-07-11 02:03 pm (UTC)Anyway, apparently I'm obsessed with colors (and old C-list actors) and didn't realize it at the time. I've got two boys, Corbin & Rowan.
Corbin: Raven
Rowan: Rowan Tree/Little red-head
Strangely enough when they were born, Corbin had black hair and Rowan's got red hair. Freaky, dude.

Date: 2008-07-11 03:14 pm (UTC)Asher means blessed/happy in Hebrew. Asher was one of Jacob's 12 sons in the Torah.
Everett means wild boar, lol.
Eleanor Mirah is our agreed upon girl's name.
Eleanor doesn't really have a meaning it means "the other Aenor". However her Hebrew name will be Elinor which means My Light is God,
Mirah apparently means Glad in Arabic but my Husband loves the singer Mirah, which is why he chose this name.
