I heard this name this week for the first time. Apparently it's a name that has only recently creeped into the top 1000 charts. I like it a lot. It sounds a lot like Myra and Mia.

I love that name. I wouldn't use it though due to certain personal associations I have with it... so I'm actually kind of hoping it becomes really popular lol. However, I hate that it's similar to Miley, the big fad of the moment :(.

It makes me think of Heroes slash fanfic...

It sounds nice, but I think it might be a symptom of Miley... one of those names that sounds pretty, but is basically just that, a pretty sound.

There's a writer named Myla Goldberg (and a Decemberists song I'm fond of called "Song for Myla Goldberg" which is where I first heard the name :)) so I think of it as pre-Miley.

I wasn't very clear, I guess I meant its popularity is related to names like Miley, or Kaylee, etc. Myla didn't enter the top 1000 till 2005.

Oh, I see. Yes, it probably does have something to do with the meaningless-fluff name trend... It's still a legit, meaningful name for me though whereas names like Kaylee aren't... but I guess we all have our double standards when it comes to names :)

I think Myla is really cute.
I think I'd prefer the spelling Mila though. Although Myla may be less confusing for pronunciation.
