I thought your subject said "Caleb" and I couldn't figure out why you were using that title on this post. Is Maddie a boy? Were you suggesting a different name?

Anyway, someone did post it before. Madison is pretty trendy and pretty annoying, but she's a young celebrity. I'm just glad that she went with an actual name and not a fruit or something.

Ditto. When I saw the whole name written out I couldn't tell if it was a boy or girl. "Briann" just looks like Brian w/o the E, and Maddie....just awful.

From what I heard, it's Maddie because Jamie Lynn's favorite cartoon character growing up was Madeline. So she decided on Maddie. I wish she had chosen the full form instead of the nickname form, but I do actually like it. Though, I love the name Madeline.

Not to mention, I am just happy it is a normal name! I'm tired of hearing Apple, Suri, Sunday, Seven, and other names from celebs. At least her kid won't grow up thinking, "What the crap did you name me this for?" and can hang out with the other two Maddies in her class! :D

I also love the name Madeline. However, I think it's a shame when there are a multiple "Maddies" (in this case) in one class. I'd rather see the Apples, Suris, Sundays, and Sevens then say Maddie M, Maddie S, Maddie etc. etc.

Yeah, I think of Maddie as short for Madeline, not Madison.

I don't like Maddie as a complete name. I like it as a nickname. My friend's name is Madison but she strictly goes by Maddie. I wonder if she'll grow out of that in the next few years.

Also, Jamie Lynn gave her the middle name Briann which I always want to read as Brian, the masculine name.

Agreed. Maddison is so played and the fact that this child will have to go around saying "No, it's just Maddie" when asked if it's short for Maddison / Madeline is so annoying. In fact, I've never understood the appeal of Maggie either, for that reason. "No, it's just Maggie". lol.

Am I the only one who thinks that Maddie is too similar to Mad? I knew of a boy called Madden once, and to me that is a verb- to make somebody/something mad. Like, "he is maddening me!" It's probably not a real word but anyway.... Maddie sounds like a mad person to me.

Otherwise, it'd be ok except I also wish it was a full name.
