Jul. 10th, 2008 12:04 ami met this sweet old man and his two grandchildren today.
their names are:
itai (pronounced ee-tye, boy, age 4)
lael (pronounced almost just like lyle, more like ly-elle, girl, age 6)
they were beautiful little kids and the grandfather and i got talking about names. it was pretty funny. when i asked him where they got the names from, he told me those names were hebrew but that his daughter and son-in-law "just liked them" even though my guess was that he was jewish.
i am surprised that i kind of like them. what are your thoughts?

Date: 2008-07-11 02:06 am (UTC)I'm not sure about Itai, but my jewish lit. professor has a son named Amitai (ah-mee-tie) which is Israeli. They have a similar ending, so I wouldn't doubt it was either a Hebrew or an Israeli name. Still, not quite sure I actually like the name.
