Well, Noah's already in the top 20, which is my personal "too popular" threshold. Sawyer and Asher are still fairly obscure (not yet in top 200), but I'd definitely keep an eye on them...

lol at Josue & Santiago being trendy names. really? and who the hell spells it Aziah? makes me hate that name even more, & i hate the name Isaiah

lol I actually know a little Hispanic boy named Santiago and all I can think of is The Old Man and the Sea when I see him. His nickname is Santi though which I think is OK. I hate the name Isaiah too... I can't believe it's gotten so popular.

I'd never think of Mohamed as a "trendy" name, I think that wherever it increases rapidly probably just signifies an increase in the Muslim population in that place. It is the most common boys' name in the world and has been for a while.

Normally I'd agree, especially since the name probably wouldn't be used outside of the Muslim community, but there hasn't been any noticeable increase in other spellings of Mohamed or other common Muslim names such as Ahmed or Khalil. I think more and more Muslims are naming their sons Mohamed instead of Muhammad or Ahmed, which, in the most liberal definition of the word, makes the name "trendy".

Alexander certainly has never been obscure in recent years, but it actually wasn't in the top 100 from 1917 to 1977. I've never met an Alexander in my parents' or grandparents' generations, although I've met several in my generation and younger. It has been getting increasingly popular in recent years. Also, the SSA only records first names.
