Hey all-

I am pregnant with my third child right now, a girl.  I have a daughter named Kylie Nicole (mn is my mn as well) and a son named Brennen Ryan (Ryan is my dh's name).  We are really having troubles thinking of another girl name with the mn possibly Riley.  We'd love Riley as a first name but Riley and Kylie sound goofy together.  We really liked Ashtyn Riley but my bff is also prego with a son she intends to name Asher so I guess that's out too-  any suggestions?!?!  Thank you TONS in advance!!!

P.S.  It'd be cool if it were 2, no more than 3 syllables...and not too nutty lol.

edit:  Riley is a family name that's why we are considering it for her middle name.  I know it's a boy's name too but I still sort of like it on a girl...at least for a mn.

My best friend is Kylie Lenore, and her sister is Amber Kate... just throwing it out there.

I don't really like Ashtyn, so maybe it's a good thing your friend is using Asher, a name I love. I like Riley, but on a boy, and yeah, it's silly with Kylie.
Some names I like with Kylie Nicole and Brennen Ryan (love the names, btw):
Andrew
Clark
Conor
David
Elliott
Graham
Ian
Rhys

Cadence
Emma
Ivy
Leah
Lily
Sophie

If you like these (some or all), let me know which and I can figure out some middles.

Ahh, I totally understand. Those are all girl names, or at least names that are found on girls, though some are decidely masculine. But I figure since you like Ashton and Riley, something like Logan or Shawn wouldn't be too weird for you. :)

But then again, you may want to give her a girl-ish name, since your first daughter has one. In that case, I think Shayla (my favorite out of the bunch) goes great with Brennan and Kylie.

Hehe.. when I think of Logan I think of this six foot tall guy I knew who broke my friend's heart. :-(
I think London makes a great gender-neutral name, but not so sure about going well as a sib-set.
I think Addison, Brennan, and Kylie would be a cute sibset.

Riley is a top contender for our girl's name list, but we'd spell it Ryleigh, a little more feminine.

First its not misspelling, its using a different variation of the spelling. Its actually in several baby name books on the market at this current time spelled that way. Second i'm not saying it MAKES the name feminine because it is already accepted as unisex, but its different from the traditional way the vast majority is used to seeing it spelled on a boy.

I'm already aware that most in this community hate the spelling of the same with -leigh, along with an overall dislike for the name, but I personally like it.

That's fine if you don't understand. I just don't want my child to have her name spelled the exact same as every other child with that name. I like being able to have the choice in spelling. Now I'm not for making it as unique as humanly possible. But I'm leaning toward a perfectly acceptable variation, even if it is not mainstream and one you commonly see everyday.

Your right it is about the child. Any name will be spelled wrong, any name will be made fun of. What I don't understand is how spelling Lee, as Leigh is going to ruin my child. Last time I checked Leigh was a very accepted misspelling of the name.

Its a variation not a misspelling. Its accepted in the baby books as such. Not like they list options for misspelling in there :)

oh well, guess I'll just name my kid Emma then, since it seems the rest of the names on our girls list seems to be so politically charged over their spelling. It may be one of the most popular names today, but no gender confusion, and hopefully everyone can figure out how to spell it!

If there was no attack it was sure implied. I already know that the name is not a favorite of this group, along with the rest of my baby names list, and I don't care. My husband and I like what we like regardless of what random internet strangers say.

I just find it interesting how opinionated people get at some variations of names, but others variations are perfectly accepted. I was just offering the original poster an alternative that LOOKS more feminine (as in it's listed in the baby names book I have with this particular variation under the "girls" section but not under the "boys" section. As in I would name my son Lee, but my daughter Leigh--personal opinion. Not to say someone won't or hasn't name their son Leigh).

Reactions like this in this community are reasons why I won't turn here for help on names again. I peruse it for ideas, but that's it. Because I know the middle names we're tossing around mean a lot to my family, but are "filler" names on this community. I can just imagine the attack I would get for using Ann or Marie as a middle name.

Oh well, thanks for looking. I get a lot of help with from the girls in my due date community too. I still have 4 months to change my mind before sticking my kid with a name no one can spell or making my kid one of 10 in her class.

This community is great for ideas, especially when contemplating what to name your child, but the responses can be very blunt and condescending.

Spelling a name differently does not make it "unique"- because when you say a name, it will sound the same. Basically Riley is Rylee is Ryleigh is Rilee... like my cousin is Kylee, but that doesn't make her name any different than Kylie or Kyleigh.
