Hey guys!

I just found another very significant favoured-letter-thingy while letting my eyes wander over my name-list. Not only are there quite a few 'th'-names I like but also not less many 'ee'-/'ei'-/'ea'-/'ae'-/'ai'-/'ia'-/'eo'-/'oe'-/'oi'-/'ou'-/'ue'-names. i think people often are attracted to names that have similar lettering. i like:

Eir (how do you pronounce this?)
Geneviève (the accent should only be there if you're in fact pronouncing it: gen-uh-vee-ev)
Mireille (i think people will have a difficult time pronouncing this)

about Geneviève..also if you're planning on pronouncing it in the french way: jen-vee-ev, which i love. but i think everyone would just call her gen-uh-veev anyway. =/

Not where I live. ;-) In Germany nobody would ever pronounce Geneviève: gen-uh-VEEV. They would all use the French pronounciation of it. They're our neighbours! *lol* But I think I wouldn't use it anway, for therey are names that I like much more than Geneviève...! ;-) But you're right about Mireille though.

It's great you like Reed/Reid, too! I really don't know which spelling I would prefere, Reed or Reid. :-P I like bothe very much! *g* Oh, and actually I have to admit that I have no clue how to pronounce Eir...! xD I'd probably pronounce it like the English word 'air' or porribly EER. No really, I have no idea at all. But I even loved how it looks so I hope the pronounciation will be equally nice. *lol*

THANKS!! i'm not fluent in french but im canadian and have studied enuf french to wager an educated guess and i would prolly go wiht 'air' pron. i cnat think of another way to say it :D

Well, Grainne is actually pronounced GRAWN-ya. It's an Irish name and it means either "grain" (derived from Gaelic "grán") or "love" (derived from the Gaelic word "gráidh"). ;-) And the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle was called Rafaelo. *g*

Mireille is one of my fave names although I don't know if I'll use it because it's hard to say. Same w/ Genevieve but also prefer the French pronunciation. In general I like the girl names more than the boy names. Also -- Leo is a good one.

Yeah, Geneviève and Mireille are really hard to pronounce for most people. But I don't think that I would actually use those because as I said above, there are other names that I like much more than those two...! O:-) But great you like them aswell! *g*

Oh, and Leo is really nice! I prefere Leon though (not only) because that's my little brothers name. ;-)

I love Beatrice. I always have. It's so old and yet fresh, I think. I also like Noelle and Brae, though Brae might get some pretty horrible nicknames in grade school.

I think most people either like or dislike a name based primarily on the sound it has, so seeing those sounds pop up again and again makes sense.

Like I said in your other post, I've noticed I like soft sounds (th, sh, ph) and again like you, I like a lot of vowel sounds.

Have you noticed any sounds you *don't* like? For me it's br and gr. I virtually always dislike names with those sounds in them.

Beatrice - someone once pointed "beat rice" out to me, and now that's all I see.
Brae - nope. no br names for me. ;)
Braith - ditto. also sounds like someone with new braces trying to say they just got braces.
Eir - ok
Elaine - ok
Fiera - nice
Geneviève - ok. pretentious.
Grainne - ok, but would be pronounced wrong.
Jeanne - ok

Leonarda - ok, but what would the nn be?

There are not many names (of mine) you like, are there? ;-) Well, possibly there are but I guess those would be the ones that I really dislike...! Ah well, you know what? I think that's okay. I'm rather glad that I like names not everybody likes. That keeps my future kids from being the 3rd Catherine and the 5th Christian in their class at school. xD

Anyway, I'm glad you like Gabriel, Liam, Noah and Samuel! They're great names! :-)
