It's kind of hard ... the ph/f thing is easy for me, I much prefer the ph. But I think Sophie and Sophia are so different, even though it's just one letter difference. When I picture someone named Sophie she's generally quiet and shy, whereas Sophia is really sophisticated (hehe) and outgoing and glamorous. So I guess from my perspective it's more a question of which extreme on the spectrum you're going for, although I do like Sophia marginally better.
I feel the same way about the difference between Joanne and Joanna, and Diane and Diana, they're completely different names to me, and I definitely have my preference.
Sophia Sophie (but I hate SO-fee, I prefer the french So-FEE) Sofia (it makes me want to read it SOF-yah, like the city, although it is the legit spelling for So-FEE-ah in italian)
Sophia - because it means wisdom (I know they all do, but this is how I consider the Greek transliteration of wisdom to be spelt) Sophie Sofia
It's a bit of a tie between Sophie and Sofia though. I kind of like them both but Sophie sounds too much like the word "soapy" and I always picture something fizzy and frothy. Sofia is ok if it's the spelling in another nationality or something but I don't know how much I like it. I'm not the hugest fan of "ia" ending names though so it's tough!

Sophie is last just because it seems diminutive or like a nickname to me, so I don't like it as much s a given name.

When it's a choice between ph and f, I always prefer the f, just personal taste.
