What do you guys think of the name Asia ?

I have a cousin named this, but in Italy it's pronounced AHZ-yah, and the country too.

I have an internet acquaintance named Asiah from Switzerland, but I have no idea how she pronounces it.

My other cousins' names:

Mirko
Tessa
Dario

My roommate's name is Dario. I like it, and I like Tessa alright. Don't really care for the other ones, though

i like tessa, its on my list.

if i saw asiah, i would pronouce it (kind of) similar to isaiah. kind of like ahz-eye-uh. i am not a fan of asia. it falls in the same category as sage to me, it just seems a bit pretensious, a bit trying-too-hard.

Dario reminds me of a character in one of the Italian text books I had in school, and a saying that came up in all the chapters about him: "Dario e' sempre in ritardo" XD

Asia sounds kind of trashy to me, but that may just be because of the people I've seen with the name. I do not like Mirko or Dario, whatsoever, but I do like Tessa. Probably just because it's my best friend's name.

I always used to say Ay-ja Argento before I heard someone pronounce her name Ah-zee-ah. still sounds a bit strange to me.

I like Asia pronounced like the continent when it's spelled Aja. =]

I like Dario as well, and Tessa only as a a nickname for Theresa or something.

Asia = classic rock. -breaks out into song- heat of the moment Telling me what your heart meant Heat of the moment shone in your eyes!!

... ahem. Pronouncing it AHZ-yah wouldn't be that bad.

I kind of like Dario, but it reminds me of something. Not sure what though... maybe the italian song book I had in high school. I think the name comes up in a couple songs.
