My daughter's name...
Feb. 15th, 2006 11:58 amI'm 22 wks pregnant with a little girl, and we've decided on naming her Kalinda Devi Garza. Wasn't chosen because it sounded cool, or trendy, but rather because of its translation (the sun resides in the heavens) and ease for others. Not to mention, it sounded pretty nice with 'Garza'. While my husband has a pretty common name, Tim, my name is pretty rare, and I wanted my own daughter to have a name that, like mine, had a meaning to it. Plus, I've always been an admirer of Sanskrit/Hindu mythology names. Thanks for the opinions!

Date: 2006-02-15 11:54 am (UTC)though to be fair, if I was to name my child a German, Celtic, etc name, it would not be ethnicity-appropriate ;)

Date: 2006-02-15 01:44 pm (UTC)I'm a European mutt, like many Americans, but I don't think it's appropriate for me to name my children Eleftheria or Giuseppe, even though I am 1/4 Greek and 1/4 Italian, kwim?
*thumbs up*

Date: 2006-02-15 02:44 pm (UTC)But it obviously means a lot to you & i think it's great when parents choose their kids names with care!!
I'm all for uncommon names.. just that, this one doesnt happen to do anything for me.

Date: 2006-02-15 02:48 pm (UTC)They sound really harsh.. (which makes no sense when i say i prefer K to a C because they sound the same!) Also, I have bad association with the name Linda. If i changed the K to a C & too out the ND to leave Calia.. now i like it!
Oh i do have strange opinions!
