There are many different nicknames for Catherine, and I was always wondering which one was a preffered nickname. This also got me thinking to which spelling of Catherine is preferential. And so I present you with two polls. Huzzah!

For the record, I acknowledge that Katherine is the most popular spelling (in America), however I know mostly Catherine's which is why I spelled it that way. :)

i like kathryn/kate/katie the best. one of my best friends is kathryn and goes by katie and kate. she's the only kathryn i've ever known, so that spelling is "normal" to me.

I don't especially like the name Catherine.. I like Cate but i don't like Catie AT ALL.
I don't like the letter K very much either- i would always go with a C over K anyday!

I chose Katharine/Kate/Katie, but I am biased as that is my name, and what my husband and brothers call me. and also a family name 200 years ago.

My name is Kathryn... I go by Katy. We just kept the Y consistent in my name and my nickname. I think if your going to go by Katie/Kate then Katherine should be spelled with a K. But if you want to go by Cate or Catie then use the C way.

A lot of people are starting to go by Kate/Cate/Kait/whatever. My name is Catherine, think my name (Cathy) is more unique now, and it reminds me of Cathy Earnshaw from Wuthering Heights!
