Okay, so I'm almost 21w pregnant. And, ITS A GIRL.

So I've got a few names that I like, and I was wondering what you guys thought of them, or if you had any suggestions of your own that fit my name "style" if I have one. ;-)

My first choice: Miley Morgan Leilani Glover

Others:
Baily Jaimes Glover (My fathers name is James, and my cousin (f) is Lindsey Jaimes) - A big issue I have with this name is the initials BJ... Can you guys think of any way to spell James with a G that wouldn't be stupid? OR do you think that later in life it won't matter if her initials are BJ.. My father said that I can't do that to my daughter LOL
Anabelle Lee Glover
Aurora Skye Glover
Destiny Hope Glover

And some first names I like or could be middle names:
Danika
Harlow
Maddison
Hailey
WDYT? Any Suggestions or ideas? Do you LOVE or HATE any of these?
Can you think of any ways that kids will be extremely cruel because of these..?

Annabelle Lee is always nice because of the poem, only if you're doing that I'd spell it properly-Annabel. Aurora and Skye are good, but not together. I definitely wouldn't do initials of BJ, plus Baily sounds like a dog's name (sorry)
I hate Destiny and Hope, especially together.
Harlow is a good name too!

I'm generally not a fan. If you want to use James for your father, spell it that way. If you want to use Madison, spell it that way.

Miley Morgan is nice, and so is Miley Leilani (though not my style), but with the double middle, it's too much going on.

Anabelle James is probably the best combination you're going to get out of what you have there. Anabelle Hope is pretty also.

I don't really like Miley but I don't really like names that end in the "iley" sound in general. And I also don't like Miley Cyrus but that probably somewhat influences how much I like the name. However, I think that the middle names, Morgan and Leilani together are really lovely.

I also really like Anabelle Lee.

Don't really like Baily (I think of Bailey's Irish Cream). And I really dislike Destiny Hope together.

Not a big fan of Miley but Miley Morgan pretty good. I feel like Miley Morgan Leilani is too much.

I really like James as a middle for a girl but I don't like Bailey.
I like Anabelle a lot but Anabelle Lee kinda sounds weird.
Aurora Skye is really cute but it might be too cutesy.
I like Madison a lot (with one D)

Miley I don't consider a real name. Maelle yes, but Miley no.
Morgan is beautiful. Leilani is okay.

Baily Jaimes I think is pretty awful. I am sorry.

Anabelle is nice but Anabelle Lee is too Poe for me and I love Poe as much as the next person but still.

Aurora I adore! Aurora Skye is a bit too much of an Aurora Borealis reference.

Destiny Hope...I guess you are a big Miley Cyrus fan...

Of your additional list I dislike all of them quite a lot.

I hate, hate, despise the name Aurora. Destiny is bad enough, on it's own, but together with Hope, it's so unbelievably cheesy. And Miley is just Miley Cyrus, so enough sad.

Baily/Bailey isn't a great name, it's very overused (consider it rhymes with 'Hailey', 'Kaylee', etc.) and it doesn't age well. The initials 'BJ' just aren't good. And whatever you do, don't use Destiny. It's one of the major trailer park names of this decade, like Crystal in the 80s. Anabelle and Aurora are nice, though Aurora paired with 'Skye' is kind of overkill. The middle names are all verrrry trendy, but they're middle names, so...

Suggestions:

Amabel
Aurelia
Adelaide
Natalie
Violet
Leah
Ruby
Cecilia
Celeste
Selina
Evangeline
Serafina
Rosalie
Maya
Holly
Gemma
Adeline

Oh, I think Aurelia is a completely beautiful name! If I weren't close friends with a woman who has a daughter of that name, I would have it on my name list for my baby, who is due in October.

Oh, yeah, and Miley - step away! Far away! It came out of nowhere to become the fastest rising name of 2007, all because of Miley Cyrus. It wasn't even a real name before that. So technically, it is the trendiest name of the year, and its source is solely that girl who plays Hannah Montana... sorry, I just don't think it's a good choice for a daughter.

Destiny Hope was also Miley's original name.

From: [identity profile] perfectcherry.livejournal.com
First of all, let me offer my congratulations! I'm due October sixth, myself, although we don't know if we're having a boy or a girl. Now...

Skye is horrible, horrible, horrible for a boy or a girl! Madison/Maddison is also horrible, both because it should be a boy's name (any name with the suffix "son" in it literally means "so of...") and because it's been stupidly popular amongst yuppy, soccer mom-type name for years; the same goes for Bailey. I think Harlow is just ugly and only appropriate as a middle name if it's a name that has been in the family for years or is the mother's middle name; are you a fan of the actress?

Destiny is also tacky; I've known plenty of ignorant, ill-mannered, white trash mothers and daughters with this name and I'm sure I'm not the only person with this association.

Now that I'm done bashing all the names I hate - sorry if I was too harsh - I do like Anabelle, Aurora, Danika, and Haley (although not the spelling Hailey). Hope is a nice enough middle name, although I certainly wouldn't pair it with another name representing an abstract concept, like Destiny. I also think Lee is a lovely name, but the feminine spelling of Lee is Leigh, which I think is prettier anyway. I think you have a good basis for a lovely name that will grow well with your child with any of those four names.

As for James: it is derived from the name Jacob, of which the feminine form is Jacqueline. There are many other variations of the names James, Jacob, and Jacqueline that venture beyond the boring, limited scope of "Jaimie," so you shouldn't have to resort to a ridiculous spelling that will be repeatedly mispronounced and misspelled throughout your daughter's life. Perhaps you should consider one of the many names related to Jacqueline as a first name?

Finally, I have to recommend that you buy or borrow my favorite baby name book: The Oxford English Dictionary of First Names. Unlike most baby name books, it goes in to authentic detail about the names' origins and meanings and also has several appendices of foreign names that are not commonly used amongst English speakers, which may give you some neat ideas, if nothing else.

Good luck with everything! I wish you all the best!

I think more than just a first and middle name is overkill.

My name is Hope, and I would really advise against naming your child after puritanical concepts like that (Destiny, Faith, Joy, etc.). The jokes never end. She'll always think someone is saying something to her when they aren't. And let's face it -- names like that just sound fluffy and ridiculous when you think about it.

I like Aurora, just not with Skye as a middle name (too close to the real thing).

James is a man's name. Period. Would you name your daughter Bob just because that happened to be your father's name?

I like Anabelle, Madison (one d), and Morgan a lot!

Other names you might like:

Maeve
Gwenyth or Gwendolyn (Gwen for short)
Eva
Phoebe
Meredith

I don't like the puritan names in general, but I have always loved Hope & Felicity.
I think they're the less obvious ones though.

Here's my bluntly honest opinions on the names.

Date: 2008-06-27 03:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seksimaggie.livejournal.com
I don't like Miley, and ever since Miley Cyrus exploded into the tween girl scene, it's suddenly becoming really popular even though it looks totally made-up to me. Morgan is nice, though, and Leilani is not my style but could be a good middle name.

I've never really cared for Baily. And I don't like James on a girl at all, and I don't like Jaimes with the I. And I don't think there's any way to spell James that won't look stupid, and I do think that the initials BJ will put her up to a lot of teasing.

Anabelle is nice, (but I prefer Annabelle,) but it's gotten super popular lately. And if you were going for the Annabelle Lee poem, it's spelled with two Ns.

Aurora is really nice, my favorite on your list. Skye is not my style, but again it's not bad for a middle name.

Destiny is such a stripper name lately, and Destiny Hope is Miley Cyrus' real name so it's probably going to get ten times more popular too.

Danika is okay but it brings to mind Danika Patrick, even though I hate NASCAR, so that's a negative association to me but not everyone would mind.

Harlow is okay too.

Maddison isn't bad, but it's soo popular lately.

Hailey is nice.

Well.... I like Aurora and Leilani. And nothing else, not even halfway. Danika maybe, MAYBE quarterway. Everything else sounds a bit immature and overly trendy or teeny-boppish to me. Sorry!

Date: 2008-06-27 04:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anapology.livejournal.com
I love Anabelle & Aurora.

Danika- sounds too harsh, not pretty at all
Harlow- wave or harlow's thanks to Ms Richie, don't do it.
Maddison- well you've spelt it wrong for a start, this is so trendy.. and it means 'son of'
Hailey- meh, very boring.
Baily- Again, it should be Bailey.. but this is also a trendy name I'd stay away from.

Miley- seriously? I have no words.

don't name your kid miley. first of all, the miley cyrus things will get old quick, and it wasn't even her legit name until like last year when she legally changed it. and her name was destiny hope at first, so are you just a huge hannah montana fan? destiny hope just screams stripper to me, sorry.

i like the name bailey enough, but why would the middle name HAVE to be james? it's a female, james has no place in her name. you could wait until you have a boy to do that. there is no way to spell james with a G and yes, bj jokes will occur.

anabelle reminds me of a cow, i can't believe so many people in this community like it. and aurora is really difficult for me to pronounce and i think it's awkward looking.

danika also just reminds me of pure white trash. a lot of people in this community seem to like it though and it thoroughly surprises me every time. harlow isn't awful but nicole richie just named her daughter that, and with how uncommon it is i'm sure you'll be asked about it like if you named your daughter apple right after gwyneth paltrow did it. madison is alright spelled with just one d, the double d is incorrect. it's also very common and it might be getting a little bit outdated. hailey though, i've always liked. i don't necessarily love it, but i wouldn't mind being named that myself.

Looking at some of your comments, I have to suggest this: if you really want to name your girl Miley, consider naming her Maile, which is the same prn., but also an actual name, which Miley is not.

Changing the spelling of James doesn't make it feminine, and with Bail(e)y, it's definitely going to get mistaken for a boy's name. Definitely DO NOT use this. Save James for if/when you have a boy.

Destiny is a stripper's name. Harlow is trashy. Maddison is way too trendy and spelled incorrectly.

I LOVE Anabelle, and Danika, Hailey, and Aurora are definitely better than the others.

I'm going to jump in with the Miley hate. Sorry, it's a tacky, tacky name. Run aways from Destiny Hope, as it's Miley Cyrus' birth name. Maddison is trendy, tacky, and misspelled, and I personally feel it's a boy's name. Harlow is the name of Nicole Ritchie's daughter's name, another option I would run away from. Bailey is a liquor, and a dog's name to me. Sorry!

I love Annabelle, Aurora, Hope, and Danica. I personally don't like the two middle names thing, but I've read your other comments, and I understand why you're doing it. I like Aurora, but with Skye it seems a bit tacky, like Scarlett Rose or Summer Dawn, you know?

I like the idea of using a family name, although I'd use Morgan over James. I'm old fashioned, though, and I think girls should have girl names and boys should have boy names. I also think Morgan is a boy name, but it is a girl name for your sister, so it's not the end of the world.

I might do Aurora Morgan Hope Glover, or Anabelle Danica Morgan Glover or Danica Morgan Aurora Glover. Hope these help!

If this helps at all, I'm due in December, and my baby will be either James Kenneth or Daphne Margaret. (See why I like James on a boy more? *g*) Good luck with the baby!

Date: 2008-06-27 05:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] coolteamblt.livejournal.com
Let's make that *run away*, not run aways.

Also, I would like to mention that I love Anabelle, but not Anabelle Lee together unless you're a huge Poe fan. I think using quirky names like Anabelle are much nicer when not in the original combination, like Anabelle Lee or Destiny Hope.

Date: 2008-06-27 05:31 pm (UTC)

I woulnd't give your kid the initials of BJ. Baily to me sounds really young. Same with Miley.

I think Anabelle Lee is very nice and I like Morgan and Danika as well.

I'm not a fan of Maddison at all and I think its a pretty trendy name right now (It was number 5 in 2007)They'd be one of several others.

Harlow reminds me of motorcycles (maybe I'm thinking of Harley..) but it also seems kind of masculine to me.

I strongly dislike Destiny Hope.

out of everything i think Hailey Morgan is your best choice

Are you a Hannah Montana fan? It shows with the Destiny Hope and Miley choices. IMO, leave them. Both of those names are very tacky and will be outdated as soon as Miss Miley Ray is.

Leave Baily, Skye, Morgan, Hailey, and Maddison - these names are much too common, even trendy, and... they're just... eh. They have no soul, if I'm to be totally honest.

Danika, Harlow, Leilani, and Anabelle - while not favorites, these are names that work. Danika Harlow Glover or Danika Leilani Glover are much better names for a baby girl than Miley Morgan Leilani Glover, I think.

Oh, and congrats on your Scorpio!

I like Skye, Harlow & Hailey.
Anabelle Lee is ok, but I don't like the single 'n' and it sort of sounds like Annebellie to me.

I really dislike Destiny Hope and Bailey Jaimes (Bailey reminds me of the drink and James is one of those names I just can't see on the other sex. It's so incredibly masculine!).

How about Danika Hailey or Annabelle Harlow?
