 So my friend just had her baby girl! her name is Karys Joy. She joins big brother Hayden, and big sister Maren. 
This is the friend who was having a ton of trouble thinking up names. I guess Hayden had been calling the baby "Baby Joy" for a long time, so they wanted to include that in her name. I think they definitely picked a name that matched their style (based on the other names she said she liked).

I would have loved it had it been Carys Joy.
Although in some way it does sounds like "Care is joy" or something like that.

Hayden and Maren are too similar to me to be in a sibset

That's a nice name. I prefer Carys, because that's the spelling I'm "used to" (though I've seen it spelled Karis and Charis, which I like as well), but the spelling doesn't bother me or anything. Actually, I like Maren spelled "Marin" better as well. Heh. All are nice names, though not names I'd use, and the middle name is really sweet.

I think the spelling of "Charis" they chose is atrocious, but otherwise it's not a bad name; I've always liked the name Joy. Is it a first and middle name, or will she actually be addressed by both names? I'm just curious.

If you're spelling it as the Greek word it is Charis. Greey words rarely have a y in them.

I love Karys (spelt either Karis or Carys) and I don't mind Maren either. I don't like Joy, though. There's just something horribly bland about it - but it does have meaning for them, so that's okay. :)
