At work today, there was an adorable little red-headed girl named Rowan. WDYT? I always thought it was just a boy's name, but behindthename says it's both masculine and feminine.

Also, I have this baby name book which is just chock-full of lists...

Okay, the baby name book is called Beyond Jennifer and Jason, and it's pretty interesting. It's got tons of lists in it. Apparantly there have been other versions of this book, but the one I have is from 1994. Haha, only 14 years old :P so of course things will be changed. Actually .. I think that might be an (unintentional) lie. This might be the one my mother got for me at a thrift store. She knows about my obsession with names. I'm not sure, I have so many name books, I can't keep them all straight.

I know Rowan as a boys' name and Rowena as a girls' name. When I first heard that people were using it on girls it bothered me, but it doesn't as much now.

I think Rowan might actually mean "red-haired", so if I'm right on that, then it's probably very appropriate on her, even if it is a boys' name :p

I don't like "feminissima" names - they're just one step too frilly for me, although I do find some of them quite pretty. I think I would like a lot of the feminine names though- will wait and see.

Rowan I go back and forth on, for a boy. Sometimes I think I like it, sometimes I don't.
For a girl, I much prefer Rowena, it sounds much more feminine. But I go back and forth on how much I actually like Rowena, too.
