Halloween?
Jun. 14th, 2008 09:48 pmMy baby's going to be born sometime near Halloween (EDD is Oct. 26th) and as Halloween is my favorite holiday, I'm considering making the middle name something related to the holiday. All I've found online are lists of villains from horror movies, which isn't really what I'm looking for, as I despise horror movies.
Anyway...any names you know of, throw them out-we still don't know if it's a boy or girl, so both are welcome! Thanks.

Date: 2008-06-15 02:32 am (UTC)There's a fairly large list at Alternative baby names (http://www.alternativebabynames.com/index.php?goto=gothic). Name Nerds (http://www.namenerds.com/uucn/goth.html) have a pretty large list too.

Date: 2008-06-15 02:47 am (UTC)The first thing I thought of was Sabrina (The Teenage Witch, a favorite comic and show of mine back in the day)... and there's also Wendy the good little witch a la Casper the ghost cartoons. Other witches: Winifred, Sarah & Mary (the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus) and Aggie, Gwen, & Marnie (Halloweentown). Those are about the tamest Halloween references I've got.
For boys, I can't think of any really good ideas, other than maybe naming your kid Firefighter or Goblin or Spiderman.

Mina (from Wilhelmina)
Lucy
Jonathan
Quincey
Arthur
Robert
Victor
If you have a book/movie that you like better that could be associated with Halloween costumes, maybe you can take one of the names from that, and not necessarily the main character.

Date: 2008-06-15 04:28 pm (UTC)I love the idea of using witchy names from history. All I can think of at the moment are Morgaine or Morgana from Arthurian legends, but I know there are so many good ones out there. There's something dark, interesting, and underrated about them-- but of course it would depend on your orientation and daring.
