WDYT of the name Lane/Layne? Originally I only liked Layne as a girls name, but more recently I've been considering Lane to add to my boys list. Like it/hate it?

The only Lane I've ever known was a guy (although my cousin, Alaina - sp? - goes by Lane sometimes), so I think of it as a boys' name. I like the "Layne" spelling for a girl though.

It's my husband's middle name, obviously male. But we will use it as a middle name for a girl, if we have one. I've always thought of it as a girls name.

i'm the opposite way. layne is totally masculine to me, because of layne staley. and lane is 100% a girl's name to me, because of the song penny lane. i LOVE both layne and lane.

i think i let pop culture influence my opinion too much, hah.

I have a female neighbor that's my age named Layne. Growing up, I always thought her name was nice, and it does fit her, but I kinda don't like it much now.

I knew a girl named Elaine that went by Lane or Lainey, but I've never known anyone outside of that going just by Lane
