of the name Kristin on a boy? Personally, I am not a fan. A girl that I know has a nephew named this. (FYI, his parents are named Corinne and Jamie). I like the name Kristin on a girl. And I don't mind the name Christian on a boy, though I'm not overly in love with it. But Kristin sounds wayy too feminine, IMO. I think he's going to get teased for having a girl's name. :(  I'm not sure what his middle name is.

I don't mind it...prefer Crispin, though. Christy is a common nickname for Christopher in several countries.

There was an asian family in my school that were all boys and their parents gave ALL of them girls names. the one in my grade was Ashley and the one a few below me was Kelly. There was one more but i can't remember it. The way i saw it, he was never teased or made fun of. And I think he embraced it and it seemed very natural. Sometimes Ashley went by AJ as well. Just thought id comment :)

*shrugs* the only kelly i knew was my barbie doll when i was young and the only ashley's I knew were girls and to me both those names are really girls names. as far as i know everyone in school that knew the brothers knew them as guys with girls names, not boys names.

I know a lot of girls named Kelly and Ashley, but I also know a male Kelly and the male lead singer of O-Town was named Ashley Parker Angel.

I don't mind it. It's just "Christian" in another language, and it is a masculine name in some countries. Besides, we have a shit ton of girls over here in the USA who have boys' names, so if kids these days are teasing each other for having names that belong to the other sex, then they have their work cut out for them.

Oh, I'm all for equality as well. I'm just one of those people who isn't fond of many boy's names on girls, either (besides the ones which were feminine before I was even born, so I have always considered them feminine, ie Ashley).
Also, I know how cruel children can be, and where I'm from (a rural town in Canada), any little thing can cause you to be picked on. Hopefully this little boy won't be, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was. You don't hear of too many 'different' names from around where I grew up.

That's true. Kids will pick on kids for anything, sadly.
And I had no idea it was a masculine Swedish name. I looked it up on www.babynamesworld.com [haha, because that's the most reliable source, I know 8-)] and it said that it was only feminine. Ah well, learn something new every day :)

I know a guy named Cristin and he does not al all like it. He goes by his middle name Shawn. He does get ribbed some for the name. He was spared some teasing becasue he was homeschooled.

My husband's name is Kristin, and he hates it. He doesn't get made fun of too much, but he gets tired of being mistaken for a woman when people only see his name.

My name is Kristin, so it is odd for me to see my name on a boy. However, I know that it is a masculine or unisex name in other countries so I do not really have a problem with it. It is after all, trendy to give girls masculine names such as James(which to be honest I do not understand the appeal of this trend). I don't really think my name is as princessy as say, Arabella. It's just cruel to give a princess name to a boy.
