Baby name!

I'm 12 weeks pregnant, and I want to see how you guys like the names we've picked out. I'm unfortunately a bit boring, as we really don't need suggestions, just opinions.

James Kenneth Huff -My husband is Kevin Kenneth. This baby would be the seventh boy in his family to have the name Kenneth.

Daphne Margaret Huff -My sister is Amelia Margaret, my mother is Margo Lee, and my grandmother is Margaret Isobella. If I'm feeling charitable, my mother in law is Mary, so we could stretch and call this related to her name too.

WDYT?

I'm Katherine Elizabeth. My MIL really really wants us to use another K name, as "we have a theme started already with our names". Does anybody under the age of 50 and over 19 find this cute? We don't like any K names, and even if we did, we wouldn't want to be the KKK!

ditto on the Kenneth comment.

lol, [livejournal.com profile] mamakimi has a K-family and I never even thought of the KKK thing. I like the letter theme thing w/ all but A names. A names bug me because of my cousins (Ashley, Amber, Amanda- daughters of KENNETH, lol)

It's worse when your family is MOSTLY one letter.

My father, mother, and I. All A's.

My sister? K. :P

I know a family where the parents and son were all L's, and the daughter is A.

It's definitely not cute, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that (a) it's tacky and (b) it sounds like the KKK.

Stick with the ones you have. Kenneth and Daphne aren't really my style, but both names are awesome and I LOVE James and Margaret.

I like James Kenneth and I love Daphne Margaret. My name is very similar to yours! DO NOT do another K name unless you are dying to use one. Not cute - cheesy. And then there is the KKK thing...

Well, my aunt and uncle are Julie and John and they chose to name their son Jacob. But that's three J's. KKK is somewhat disturbing. Also, if you don't like any K names, then it is your choice to name your baby however you'd like. Your MIL had the chance with her kids, now it is your turn. So don't let her pressure you.

I always think that having the same letter is confusing. A couple can't really help it if they're both B. Jones, but it would be annoying to add a third or fourth B. Jones to the mix! Not that it would get confusing every day or anything, but I like to keep things simple where possible when it comes to naming!

I like James Kenneth... Daphne Margaret I think I like it - I just haven't ever really thought about the name Daphne before! It kind of reminds me of the woman on Frasier. But otherwise, I like how it's a traditional classy sort of name that isn't extremely common at the moment. Don't like it that Daffy could be a nickname, but that's my personal preference. I'm sure this is a name that would really grow on me if I knew a little Daphne anyway

I don't like Kenneth, but I do like the meaning it has for you. Besides, James Kenneth sounds good.

I really like Daphne Margaret! Such a pretty name. Haha, I don't care for names that all start with the same letter at all. If you'd like a K name, I'd say go for it, but I wouldn't use one just so your names would all start with the same letter.

Forget anyone else telling you what to name the baby. Suggestions are awesome, but ick, K names. I feel the same way about J names lol.
Anyway, Daphne's cute but makes me think of Scooby Doo!

Both of your names are lovely. :) I've never been a fan of Margaret, but with Daphne it works well.

IAWTC

I think the all-K thing is horribly tacky, honestly. Not only that, it's limiting.

A member of this community started the "all the same initials for cuteness" theme and then when she became pregnant with her second had an awfully hard time trying to find something to match.

[identity profile] laminy.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
James Kenneth is definitly a good name. I don't like any part of Daphne Margaret, but Margaret is definitly the better half of that name. Don't like Daphne at all.

Pfft, ignore MIL. Themes are not that cute.

[identity profile] maine-girl.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Daphne, and it is lovely with Margaret. Margaret Isobella is really a beautiful name!
Not a fan of Kenneth, but I can see why you'd want to use it.

All K names: not really cute. If you like a K name, that's great, if not, I wouldn't worry about it.

Im actually a big fan of the name Daphne, and I love the name margaret (my aunts name) so those two together sounds great. I dont like the boys name though.

I would see if you liked any K names because if you like a name that starts with K, if not then thats fine. I dont think having all the same first letter is that big of a deal.

I'm 19 and I do NOT think the K-theme is cute. I hate family themes. My mom's friend Meredith has siblings Monty & Michele. Meredith is married to Matt and their kids are Mallory, Meagan, & Molly. Luckily, Michele did not follow suit... her husband is Charles(Chip) and their kids are Alexandra(Lexi) & Emily.
