new job... new kinds of names

so before i worked for a mortgage company and got ppl coming across my desk ranging btwn 18-40.

due to economy issues, my company downsized. i now have a new job, and yay! i still get names across my desk!!! i am now working for a Cardiovascular clinic, and the names and people i get now are btwn the ages of 60-90 years old. man! what a difference in the names! lol. i just started last week, so here are some examples from today's patients:

i LOVE these names. they're so... normal compared to what i used to have to deal with. i may just keep a list of these names and use some for my lists. lol

LMAO that was my great-grandfather's name. I was told it was a mistake, so he always went by Buddy!

lol the name itself isn't odd, but it did strike me as out of place b/c i see it as more of a 'hippie' name. maybe someone born in the 60's or 70's would've been named that. i still like, but it didn't fit for me on the 75 year old woman lol.

see? now i know they're 'old fashioned' - mostly b/c the patients are all elderly ladies & gentlemen, but i like it. it's so refreshing after all the whacked out names i used to get.... (see this entry for example: http://community.livejournal.com/baby_names/2679506.html#cutid1 )

and i kind of like them. my taste tends to run in the traditional direction. i plan on my children not having to apologize or explain away their names when entering the professional world of grown-ups. :)

It's my understanding that Socorro is a fairly common first name for girls in Spanish speaking countries. It sounds masculine to me, but I was corrected that it is indeed predominantly a female name. Every time I hear it I get a mental image of a Scorpion playing soccer. idk...idk! lol

well, the gentleman isn't bilingual and speaks only spanish. :) being in S. TX - it's something that's not unusual. but i put it in that category b/c i've only seen that as a female name - not a male.
