What do you think about names that sound like one letter?

Examples: Dee, Bea, Jay, Kay, You, Vi, Zee

Similar (but not quite) examples: CeeCee, Lee, Abe

Would anyone consider using these names as a first or middle? Can you think of any others that are similar to the second set?

Thanks.

i think they're really cute as nicknames. like bea from beatrice, vi from vivian, kay from kaitlin or any of the variants, ect. but you is silly.

I would never use them as a full name. I have no problem using them as a nickname though. I often shorten my friends and my own name to one letter or syllable (A, Em, J, Nik) , so why not? I sign emails/letters/messages with -K.

I think some work as nicknames (Bea, Jay, Kay, Zee, Dee, etc.) but others don't work at all. I'd consider using some as middle names, but not as firsts.

I like Kay & Elle as middles.

Cece, Gigi, Em, etc. as nicknames, but I don't think any "Letter Names" are great as first names, it kind of gyps the kid of a legitimate name.

One of my sister's former classmates named his son Taylor J. This kid is like 5 years old now, and I'm still not over the J thing.

I'd probably use them as nickames. I figured that if I ended up calling a child Isabella, I'd call her Z for short. (Isabella -> Izzy -> Z. It's efficient!) A family friend is named Avellina but is called Vi.

Love love love Jay. It's the number one nickname on my list, and would be the nick for Jason.

I like Kay too.

I would use Jay as a complete middle name, but that's about it. I like CeeCee amd Dee (or DeeDee) as nicknames. I go by K a lot, and in high school two of my friends often went by V and Tee - nicknames for Yvanna and Teodora.
