(no subject)

As I've mentioned in this community a couple times, I was named after my mother. She's Katherine Marie (Kathy), and I'm Kaitlyn Marie (Kait). When I eventually (key word) have a daughter, I want to name her after us both as well. I'm having trouble finding any K names I like though. The middle name MUST be Marie. I'm a big fan of the nickname Kelly (but not as a full name).

Here's what I've got:

Kendall Marie (Kelly)
Kellina Marie (Kelly)

Here's ones I HATE:

Kimberly Marie
Kristin Marie (Kristen, Kristina ...)
Kathleen Marie (or any form of Katherine)
Kreativ spellings of C names: Kourtney, Kolleen
Names that sound like Kailee.

Throw some at me.

Also feel free to vote on my name list, which I recently made: http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9629041

My favourite version of Katherine is the Polish Kasia.

Katia
Kitty
Katrina

I don't think you should disregard C names- after all they're still derived from the same source.

Catriona
Caitriona
Cassia
Caitria

Kezia (KEZ-ia)
Keziah (ke-ZYE-a)

My favourite C names is Charis (hard C like Clark), meaning grace & kindness from Ancient Greece.

I love Kezia(h) !!! prn KEHZ-yah
but I thought it was a boy's name and always pronounced Keh-ZYE-ah?

Is Kezia doable for a girl? If it is, that's an awesome name!!

Otherwise Kenzia is the name of a plant :)
prn KEN-zyah.

Kezia(h) is most definitely not a boys name.

I think our pronunciations are basically the same but I have it with 3 syllables, the -ia ending is two.. if that makes sense!

Keziah is a biblical name, one of the 3 daughters of Job. It means 'cassia' in hebrew- as in the spice tree.

When I was student teaching, there was a little girl in kindergarten named Kezzia, pronounced KEYZ-yah.

Just don't do what my parents did and stick two names together--I'm forever Kelly or KellyAnne, unless I start going by my middle name.

What about Kellen/Kellan with Kelly as a nickname?

i like kaya (pronounced KY-uh) or even kai (pronounced KY) and kyle, even though both are more often used on boys rather than girls. i know a girl named kyle though. :]

Kirsten? I think it sounds pretty with Marie as a middle name, or is it too similar to Kristen? Or Kaylee...

Kendall has always struck me as a masculine name, really...

What about Kayla? Or is that too close to Kailee for you?

Karen
Karla (this may be considered cre8v, though...)
Kara
Kena (Her dad is Kenneth, it's not short for anything)

I can't vote on the name list, as it is "set to private."

What about Maria? Is that off limits for some reason? I think Maria Katherine is a nice combination and a nice way to change things up a little bit while still honoring the family tradition. Not a great name if you're not a fan of The Sound of Music, but I think it's an adorable name that ages well and isn't used as often as it should be anymore.

My middle name is Kristine, which is the Danish spelling. I'm named after my grandfather, whose middle name was Christian (with a C, go figure), as well as several Danish ancestors named Kristine; the Danish pronounce it more like Kristina, but with a soft and short "uh" sound on the end, but I pronounce it like the evil car's name from the Stephen King story. However, all the Christian-based names are not really derived at all from Catherine.

A few names derived from Catherine/Katherine I like are: Katerina (this name is actually older than Katherine, which is derived from it), Cateline, and Catalina.

I despise the name Katrina, but that is just because I live in New Orleans and lost the first home my husband and I bought together to the storm, so it has a lot of negative connotations to me. However, I previously liked the name and I don't think most people in the U.S. or around the world will automatically associate it with The Storm.

I don't like Kimberly, Kristin, or Kathleen either, or those "creative" respelling so many people enjoy.
