Hey! First post here!
Feb. 2nd, 2006 12:16 amHey all! I looove names, so, yay! We all have something in common! :) I also apparently love exclamation points and smilies, but that probably won't last long so don't worry. Anyway, I've loved names forever. I still have some of my old notebooks from 4th grade where I wrote out lists of names I liked and different spellings. So, yeah, I'm a name-o-phile (I used to know the word for that but I don't anymore).
Just as an introduction, here's my current list of favorite names. My husband and I are currently in the process of trying for our first, so it'll be awhile before we need to chose, and I'll probably change choices a million times. Feel free to pan or praise 'em, of course :)
Boys:
Arthur Christopher (after people who're important to us)
Vincent (cuz it's a cool name, especially if you played Final Fantasy 7)
Cassian (rhymes with passion, Cash would be a nickname)
Girls:
Lilika
Serah (yeah, it's a real name and it mean Morningstar. It's not a variant of Sarah)
Corinna (Rin as a nickname)
Whatta y'all think? :)

Date: 2006-02-01 09:44 pm (UTC)Vincent - Never much cared for this. Makes me think of some sleezy guy with chest hair and gold jewelry.
Cassian - Too weird
Lilika - I LOVE this name, have it on my list too.
Serah - More trouble than it's worth. You'd have to explain it's not Sarah way too often.
Corinna - Fine

Date: 2006-02-01 10:15 pm (UTC)I think Corinna is beautiful.
Re: Starry starry night...
Date: 2006-02-01 11:25 pm (UTC)And yeah, I love Corinna. I'm a fan of most names starting with "Cor", probably because I've never met anyone with those names :).

Date: 2006-02-02 04:48 am (UTC)Vincent- oh i don't think this is a cool name! just not my style... Vinny is awful.
Cassian- I know a Cassian that pronounces it Cas-ee-un. The little boy in question is a monster so i have bad association everytime i think of the name, but i do like it.
Girls:
Lilika- hm... looks made up. Lily on it's own it way way way nicer.
Serah- I dont even like Sarah...
Corinna- Don't like this either.

Date: 2006-02-02 05:02 am (UTC)And Cassian needs to be rediscovered. It's got a great history behind it.
Not a fan of any of your girls' names - Corinna is all right, though.

Date: 2006-02-02 06:51 am (UTC)Serah is still pronounced like Sarah, yes? Even though it's a different name, people will just think it's a you neek spelling.
Lilika is alright. It looks a little made up, but it flows nicely.
I like all you boys names, esp. Cassian.

Date: 2006-02-02 10:10 am (UTC)Arthur Christopher - It's better reversed, ie: Christopher Arthur
Vincent - No, and everyone will associate it with the dumb guy from Harry Potter.
Cassian - This is a really interesting name. I like it.
Girls:
Lilika - How is it pronounced?
Serah - Mmm, okay I guess.
Corinna - It's not horrible, but it's not my sort of thing. I think I prefer Corinne.

Date: 2006-02-02 11:08 am (UTC)I would think most people know him as Crabbe.
They certainly wouldn't associate "Vincent" with Harry Potter more than "Hermione" or "Ron".

Date: 2006-02-02 12:56 pm (UTC)I don't think Hermione and Ron are really relevant here.

Date: 2006-02-02 10:41 am (UTC)Cassian would make a awesome name for a character. I can see it now... Space priate (since it would be Star Wars.) dark brown hair, light blue eyes, tall and handsome.
*giggles like a fangirl. ohh I like the name now.

Date: 2006-02-02 11:10 am (UTC)Arthur Christopher- I like it.
Vincent- Eh. It's an all right name just nothing I would use.
Cassian- Again, nothing I would use.
Girls:
Lilika- Don't much care for it.
Serah- I like this.
Corinna (Rin as a nickname- I like this too although I think I like Serah a bit more.

Date: 2006-02-02 12:18 pm (UTC)Arthur's one of my favourite names.
As for girls' names, I really like Corinna. I have a good friend called that.

Date: 2006-02-03 09:29 am (UTC)Vincent - I hate this name and would you really name your child after FF7??
Cassian - sorry but I also hate this. Sounds like a "Fabio" type name, like the kid's gonna be on the cover of crappy romance novels or at the very least on a soap
Lilika - sounds totally made up, doesn't sound like it flows at ALL
Serah - I like the meaning but no, too difficult, she'll be explaining her name her whole life
Corinna - eh Im kinda neutral about this name.
